i'm hardly a Grateful-Dead-t-shirt-wearing kind of dude, but on one of those GD threads last month somebody pointed out that the Mars Hotel front and back covers would make excellent t-shirts and they were otm

Friends at the radio station actually made this into a shirt. They adapted it to be a promotional shirt for their radio show, but it's still cool.

someone should put this image on a shirt, cause then, it would be, like, a shirt, on a shirt

del griffith, Wednesday, 30 June 2010 20:26 (fourteen years ago)

you can upload a high res image to cafepress and they will put it on a t-shirt for you.

margana (anagram), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 20:35 (fourteen years ago)

already tried with mike mills's 600x600 jpeg (the highest-res i could find) and it just made cafepress's preview pic look like it had an iron-on decal the size of a damn stamp, plus their royal blue didn't match

atoms breaking heart (a passing spacecadet), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 20:45 (fourteen years ago)

i was just thinking about this topic earlier today, while thumbing through the amazing album covers displayed in the voodoo funk blog:

http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o36/voodoofunk/20.jpg

any of these would make very cool t-shirts. disappointed to hear del's negative impression of cafepress. are there other online outfits that do similar work?

I gotta agree Daniel, those would definitely make some shirts I'd love to use if printed full.

Moka, Wednesday, 30 June 2010 21:40 (fourteen years ago)

I tried to use monochromatic covers considering the shirts to be the same color. The Jorge Ben and Fleetwood Mac ones I'm thinking about printed completely... (I don't know what's the name of that sort of print or if I'm making myself clear there...)

I meant something like this:

my experience of cafepress was very good. but then again I was lucky enough to find the high res image I wanted. the image size has to be 2000 pixels at 200dpi or some such, which I don't really understand, but the upshot is that the file size of the image needs to be about 4MB. this may be tough to find online but you could always scan it yourself I guess.

my only beef with cafepress is that the image doesn't cover the whole shirt as in the examples above
