Not to be all street-teamy but i really like this album. Warm bubbly analog arpeggiations, shoegazeish guitar drones and ecstatic oohing and ahhing. Lovely Kompakt house minus (mostly) the kick drums.

i realise i am way behind the curve, but yesterday i soaked up the epic kompakt threads (though they seemed to have quietened down of late) and so now have a need to hear more from this label.
on my return to civilisation next week, this album is the first thing i will be tracking down.

one year passes...

New album is better than the first.

Bit more percussion, maybe? Haven't listened to the debut in a little while. This feels more dancey, makes more sense being on Kompakt, perhaps.

really? first album was good

revelatory juxtaposition there, bro (Drugs A. Money), Friday, 30 September 2011 14:18 (fourteen years ago)

I liked it (quite a lot) but it felt a little bit too much in thrall to influences and ideas, to me. This feels a little more free, a little more groovy, a little more mature.

Sounds like they've massively upped their game on this. Tunes seem a lot stronger and bolder, definitely like it a lot more than the first.

Yeah, this is a much, much better record. Streets ahead.

Got kind of a Chemical Bros vibe to it in places maybe?

I'm listening to it in a flotation tank next week.

Conan The Asshander (Doran), Saturday, 1 October 2011 14:40 (fourteen years ago)

For real?

master musicians of jamiroquai (NickB), Saturday, 1 October 2011 14:48 (fourteen years ago)

Record makes me wish the evenings were a bit longer still :(

master musicians of jamiroquai (NickB), Saturday, 1 October 2011 14:52 (fourteen years ago)

For real. Looking forward to it immensely as long as no Altered States shit happens.

Conan The Asshander (Doran), Saturday, 1 October 2011 14:53 (fourteen years ago)

Ha that's great!

master musicians of jamiroquai (NickB), Saturday, 1 October 2011 14:58 (fourteen years ago)

Ha, just reviewed it for you, John, and mentioned the flotation tank thing!

Sick Mouthy (Scik Mouthy), Saturday, 1 October 2011 15:48 (fourteen years ago)

Ah, good stuff. <Utterly shameless self-boosterism/> It's named after something I wrote apparently. Which certainly puts my thanks on the sleeve notes to the Towers Of London album into perspective.

Conan The Asshander (Doran), Saturday, 1 October 2011 16:04 (fourteen years ago)

hahahahaha

Pretty excited to hear this. Their debut was the album I was most futilely evangelical about last year. Now I can go through that disappointment all over again.

Doran, your piece on this was awesome btw and possibly my favourite bit of writing about a man having a bath since No One Here Gets Out Alive.

Lars and the Lulu Girl (NickB), Thursday, 20 October 2011 11:17 (thirteen years ago)

Thanks Nick, I really appreciate it. I think of myself as a man who looks like he will be discovered dead in a bath as it goes.
