New LYCIA album!!!

There are two Lycia threads, but they are both quite small and I think the MP3 only FIFTH SUN deserves a new thread after such a long time of no Lycia. I going to download it today.

wow hardly know what to say - it's not like I keep up w/these guys but I'm still surprised to see a thread called "new lycia album" in 2010

It's pretty good, not a surprise in terms of sound but I don't think anyone would expect that...

How do these guys compare with Faith and Disease? 'Cause they're my fave underrated Projekt group.

CharlieS, Friday, 9 July 2010 17:04 (fourteen years ago)

They compare extremely well, Trance To The Sun are also really incredible and they had a close association with Lycia. The Faith and Disease vocalist also recorded a song with Trance To The Sun on Azalean Sea. I can never get enough of this type of music, it is perhaps my favorite genre.

awes, will check out, thanks. I binge on this stuff for about a month or two every year, not enough to weed through the stuff I don't like.

I have to say I didnt understand the solo VanPortfleet album as much as I would like, I love shoegaze/dreampop/etherial goth more than anything in the world, but purely ambient records are somehow difficult for me.

I've been listening to the Estraya release "Time Has Come and Gone" and it is really great, I think that Vanflower did her most amazing work in the Estraya mode ((Tripping is an Estraya project, Vanportfleet regretted calling it a Lycia album, I presume his reason was so it would sell better as Lycia)) it needs a reissue, I could only find it on the Projekt site. I see the Bleak album has been reissued.

Me too ... haven't heard this album yet but I'm definitely pro-"new Lycia album" threads in 2010

I just listened to it.

6 tracks, 31 mins, all tracks sung by Vanflower,, Vanportfleet only does backing vocals on one track. Probably the least depressive thing they have done. There seems to be a bit more emphasis on guitar playing, and visually it feels more bright and colorful.

one year passes...

Tara Vanflower is vehemently pro-life. Who knew?

People can pretend abortion isn't murder all they want... reality says different. I'm not going to argue this with anyone, but living in denial is a sad, sad state to be in when lives are involved.

Yeah she's generally right-wing-leaning. Is also huge on animal rights/anti-vivisection too.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 7 September 2011 03:30 (thirteen years ago)

She's about to give birth too so hey, subject's on her mind, I guess.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 7 September 2011 03:31 (thirteen years ago)

she just gave birth a few weeks ago you mean!

Battlestar Gracián (crüt), Wednesday, 7 September 2011 03:31 (thirteen years ago)

Gah, confusing pregnant musicians or something here.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 7 September 2011 03:32 (thirteen years ago)

The animal rights thing surprises me way more than being pro-life. Goths aren't generally left-wing in my experience, quite the opposite really.
