some discussion of them here: itt: kinda out there, maybe kinda experimental, maybe kinda pretentious modern r&b
― Mister AOR (The Reverend), Saturday, 17 July 2010 09:30 (fourteen years ago)
I like this. Such an Andy K record!!
― Tim F, Saturday, 17 July 2010 09:44 (fourteen years ago)
love this, it's about all i can stand to listen to during the more traumatic summer hangovers - tremendously soothing and restorative

As I mentioned in some other thread where Quadron was brought up, people don't be sleeping on Robin Hannibal.
Boom Clap Bachelors "Combiner"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILxIkXdotvY
Parallel Dance Ensemble "Weight Watchers" (which actually contains the exact same members as Quadron)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQRJTVraV1M
And also Owusu & Hannibal, Non + and other various remixing and production work.
― Johnny Fever, Saturday, 24 July 2010 23:49 (fourteen years ago)
Oh, I just found a Non + video (that's hard to search for on youtube)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iyBn3TYGdU

"Weight Watchers," haha:

Really dug a few songs on Living With... when it came out, but something about the Quadron album unlocked the whole thing.
― Andy K, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 11:52 (fourteen years ago)
Yeah, Living With... wasn't perfect by any means. But now that he's kind of refined the idea with Quadron, I'm really excited about whatever the next Owusu & Hannibal album is.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 11:53 (fourteen years ago)
Play "Weight Watchers," "Candy Man," Dam-Funk's "Candy Dancin'" simultaneously -> Rick James will come back from the dead

There's a new Parallel Dance Ensemble ep. Here's the single:

I clearly missed something here. Will keep it in mind when shopping tomorrow...
― Ned Raggett, Thursday, 24 March 2011 23:52 (fourteen years ago)
All this time I thought the Coco in Parallel Dance Ensemble and the Coco in Quadron were the same Coco. Turns out they aren't! Robin Hannibal just likes to work with talented women named Coco it appears.
Finally listening to the new PDE thing and it's great. Hope people don't sleep on it.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 30 March 2011 10:02 (fourteen years ago)
And indeed, the Quadron album is v. nice.

― i didn't even give much of a fuck that you were mod (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 29 May 2013 05:24 (twelve years ago)
Yeah this is great. I didn't really get into the first album apart from a few tracks (mainly Slippin') but this one I enjoyed all the way through. A couple of times her vocals reminded me of Syreeta which is obviously no bad thing.
― Kitchen Person, Wednesday, 29 May 2013 06:25 (twelve years ago)
ah what a pleasure this album is
― r|t|c, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 22:56 (twelve years ago)
what a splendid voice this lady has. so expressive and rich.
― monotony, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 02:39 (twelve years ago)
yeah this album is just lovely basically - a bit unlike the debut which worked really well as an overall mood piece (several of the strongs were song obv but none overshadowed the album, and i always listened to it as a whole); here, "hey love" is the obvious Big Tune and the mood is much less heavy/sultry, more playful (ie i doubt this'll be my go-to album for summer hangovers like the debut was). but it's great, yeah
― lex pretend, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 07:32 (twelve years ago)
I like this album a lot but "Hey Love" is corny to me.
― The Reverend, Sunday, 23 June 2013 04:30 (eleven years ago)
Ha, I just came here to say that I like "Hey Love" just fine, but it's not the highlight of the album for me.
― Murder in the Rue McClanahan (jaymc), Monday, 8 July 2013 22:05 (eleven years ago)
I really like the album, it is a lot better than the Rhye album. She can *really* sing.

saw them tonight in the park and they were great. Even better live, like by far.I worked a bit negotiating press with Coco and gave her a bowl. I got a hug and a nice Facebook photo.
― sassy, fun, and RELATABLE (forksclovetofu), Sunday, 28 July 2013 03:23 (eleven years ago)
This album is creeping up my albums of the year list every time I play it.
2.25 into Crush is probably my favourite bit of music this year. It's Gonna Get You is possibly my favourite song, it reminds me so much of the first two Syreeta albums. Avalanche is another great one, beautiful end to a really great album.
― Kitchen Person, Sunday, 28 July 2013 04:42 (eleven years ago)
saw them tonight in a tiiiiny venue in belleville. woah! coco can saaaang. she did an incredible cover of lauryn hill's "ex-factor". also went on a strange rant early in the show thanking everyone for letting her music spread via word-of-mouth and not through her "getting naked on a wrecking ball".
album is still v. enjoyable.
― monotony, Thursday, 14 November 2013 22:02 (eleven years ago)
coco is a monster live no doubt.i gave her a bowl i threw when she played out at $ummer$tage and got hugs. def high point of the season.pottery.

― kitchen person, Saturday, 10 June 2017 01:27 (eight years ago)
So - it looks like Quadron are on hiatus for the time being, but Coco O. put a 2-song EP called Dolceaqua out on Friday.
The arrangements are probably just a little too temperate for my taste but at the same time she's the sort of singer who sounds nice over anything.
