I've seen what must be dozens 3 feet high and rising pastiches, but damned if I can remember what any of them were.

nine years pass...

There have to be more of these

ill fuckin put a paste on those (Neanderthal), Sunday, 9 February 2020 19:04 (five years ago)

Maybe if we broaden it to “reference other hip hop album covers”. I dont think there are a ton of parodies tbh

Reference is fine

In that case...

Nas’ “Hip Hop is Dead” is kind of a callback to Too $hort’s “Life is...”

No, Pen and Pixel actually did the Keith cover

The Mandymoorian (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 10 February 2020 00:53 (five years ago)

That doesn't preclude it from being a parody

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Monday, 10 February 2020 00:57 (five years ago)

Yes, but considering the shit he often talked about that style of rap, and consider the in-jokes made im the liner notes themselves (including a RZA dig where he advertised an upcoming album by "Robbie Analog"), I don't think he hired Pen and Pixel because he had been craving a No Limit look. Esp given how ridic the cover is even by P&P standards with the gorillas and all.

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Monday, 10 February 2020 01:12 (five years ago)

(and yes i know RZA wasn't part of No Limit,Keith just seemed to be indiscriminate about who he made fun of)

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Monday, 10 February 2020 01:13 (five years ago)

Keith was legit into No Limit

The Outkast and RZA disses were genuine attempts at beef
