This is one reformation which I expect to work. Has anybody heard any of there new stuff and is it any good?

And has anyone saw them live recently? I'm tempted to see them in October but if it's just a nostalgia fest for 30somethings I'd give it a miss.

Would 40somethings be OK?

I've heard it and it's enjoyable -- it's not really Soft Cell, though. A friend who said it was a straight-up Marc Almond dance album produced by Dave Ball called it pretty well, and as that it's great. I guess it's reflective of both time and changes in technology and production; still, it's a pity not to have exact equivalents to the cinematic cabaret sleaze of the past. The slower ones were my faves.

I saw them last October and it was totally a nostalgia fest for 30- somethings. I kept having the feeling that people were looking at me and thinking "You're not from round these parts, stranger" just because I was younger and better dressed than them. It seemed a bit weird when he was singing ie Bedsitter because everyone was singing along about being lonely etc even though they all had their boyfs/girlfs/husbands/wives etc hanging off their arms. Martin was v.scary though.

Anyway, the new songs (from what I remember) were OK-ish, quite dance- y I guess but I can't really remember much of the new stuff.

They were supported by Fuzz Lightyears who (a) have one of the worst names ever and (b) I briefly (ok, for a couple of months) thought were pretty cool until I realised I just fancied the singer.

nineteen years pass...

New one is out there.

Dave Ball pretty much carrying it all on his shoulders, I think. The music tracks are really good but Marc Almond seems uninterested in places. That old passion in the vocals is faded. Not a fan of the backing vocalists.

Hmm, pity. Will wait on the formal release to judge. But I did like the live versions showcased on tour a couple of months ago.

Musically sounds much more like Soft Cell of yore than "Cruelty Without Beauty". Ball and Almond have always seemed to come at their material on equal terms and I think that balance is off here somewhat. Curious to read your thoughts on it later on, Ned.
