and so many months later Bob snoom actually gives me a tape of this and that 7'' he talks abt.
The bill orcutt record is A FUCKING MONSTAH!!! Beautiful string fuckage that makes me want to ejaculate over this keyboard in excitement (but i won't).
And then I get a CDR of what was music from Gaz. nathalie you're not wrong. and its bluegrass! the same wonderful thing, with slight variations, over and over again. for 70 minutes. hurrah for ILM and the fine ppl on it who made this post possible.

I just got "you'll never play in this town again" and have been listening to it non-stop. why didnt i buy this sooner? The live set is particularly enjoyable with adris' hilarious b/w song banter..."you asked for it, bitch!"

THIS SONG IS ABOUT THE MOST EVIL BAND IN THE UNIVERSE IT'S CALLED "COCK ESP"
― ian, Tuesday, 14 April 2009 18:02 (sixteen years ago)
seriously i'm surprised there isn't more talk about these guys in the wake of the Load records release. Just amazing stuff. I prefer their stumbling deconstructo jazz-rock to the wailing hardcore/noise, but it's all very, very good.
― ian, Tuesday, 14 April 2009 18:03 (sixteen years ago)
I should listen to this more, I almost never do but when you play it loud it splats you against the other wall. That chick is fucking scary.

I forgot to bid on a copy of the first Transmission single recently and it went for a few measly pence. Dunno if they're rare or 'owt, anyway.

I'm guessing the Transmission stuff is much the same. The Bill Orcutt cd on Audible Hiss is pretty hairy, I know that much.

Trevor Wishart playing too!
― gnarly sceptre, Thursday, 1 October 2009 10:16 (fifteen years ago)
when i saw trevor wishart in glasgow last year he told me (in a perfectly affable way) that i was sitting too close to the speakers to properly appreciate his music - so i moved!

you can order it straight from him as well http://http://palilalia.com
― Professor Respect, Thursday, 1 October 2009 21:56 (fifteen years ago)
ooh, yes! I will order this today!
and speaking of the Pussy, Pitchfork's review says it's a shame no lyrics were included for You'll Never Play This Town Again. did the original issues have printed lyrics in them? I'd love to get a hold of those so I can sing along to entire songs, rather than just the few words I can decipher.

new record is very nice. My favorite track is most likely the Lightnin' Hopkins cover. and that video is staggering.
here's a tasty bit from a short feature the November issue of Wire had on Orcutt:
But will Harry Pussy ever play again? "I have no idea." At least that's not a no.
okay, not terribly exciting, but the last sentence fills me with hope.
― Ivan, Tuesday, 10 November 2009 23:28 (fifteen years ago)

that video is great, heard a track on the radio in the same vein, except it was like 5 minutes longer and 5 minutes awesomer
― sonderangerbot, Tuesday, 10 November 2009 23:50 (fifteen years ago)
xpost: yeah. There's a nice review of the album too.
I've got a digital copy of the Transmission album. I like it, Lambkin's guitar-playing is quite erratic and junky. Adris is more restrained then I'd like, but it's a nice listen
― Ivan, Tuesday, 10 November 2009 23:52 (fifteen years ago)
the morning after a night of drinking, I almost always reach for 'Ride a Dove' and blast it.
it's playing now, surely this is some form of masochism?

anyone else see orcutt yesterday at the MCA? he said he was "learning how to play songs" and then checked his phone and lamented that he had only been playing for 20 min. i enjoyed the performance. he sweated a lot and seemed to be leaking energy out of his left foot because i don't think it stopped moving the entire 45 min he was on stage.
we were vacated from the performance space to make room for the throng of fashion enthusiasts there to see the sartorialist.
