I think it's a good mix between my tastes and things she likes, and I like how the two sides slightly bleed into one another but are based on seperate organizing principles. What do you think?

New "dude, I thought you weren't an indie" answers.

Sterling Clover, Saturday, 10 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I like very much 'Relative Ways' into 'Androgynous' (which has forever been my favorite Replacements tune). It is a lot of enclosed sound into a lot of open spare-ness, plus you get the vagueness of Trail of Dead contrasted with the (relatively) straightforward replacements.

tyler, Saturday, 10 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sterling, you have good taste (read: I quite like most of what is on there). Do you mean the Smith 'n' Mighty - Walk On By covah? That one is GRATE (unlike their last album, a stinkah!)

I don't even know if that's the right track - it's the one with the waterdrumming that turns into crazy gabba noise.

dog latin (dog latin), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 01:03 (twenty-one years ago)

That would be the second track entitled "Water Drumming".

Hey guys

So the hoary old cliche about mixtapes is that after the fact they become snapshots of your life, encapsulations of where and who you are when you put it together. In my experience you usually spend a while enjoying the songs as songs, for the melodies and lyrics that drew you to tape it in the first place, and it's only after a period of years that the songs come to stand in for the places on the calendar and the people who occupied them.

This one wasn't really like that. I made it for a girl and then realized the next day that it was like a Chuck Close painting of me as a needy unemployed alcoholic. So I made her a tape less likely to freak her out. But this one has better songs.

i like it, i think maybe you would too

Stop Non-Erotic Cabaret (Abbbottt), Sunday, 14 November 2010 17:41 (fifteen years ago)

I love "Daves I Know"...everyone should check out the video too.

like you really know who trisomie 21 is (u s steel), Monday, 15 November 2010 01:41 (fifteen years ago)

I questioned putting a couple of things on there, like does he really need to hear about loving half a bee "semi-carnally," until I remembered that I discovered Python when I was 10 and probably ignored that line until I figured out what it meant several years later. And I turned out to be a perfectly fine, well-adjusted member of society.......

My god, what have I done?

Hideous Lump, Monday, 15 November 2010 01:48 (fifteen years ago)

My two know a fair few of those tracks, and no doubt would enjoy the rest.
