Hey guys

So the hoary old cliche about mixtapes is that after the fact they become snapshots of your life, encapsulations of where and who you are when you put it together. In my experience you usually spend a while enjoying the songs as songs, for the melodies and lyrics that drew you to tape it in the first place, and it's only after a period of years that the songs come to stand in for the places on the calendar and the people who occupied them.

This one wasn't really like that. I made it for a girl and then realized the next day that it was like a Chuck Close painting of me as a needy unemployed alcoholic. So I made her a tape less likely to freak her out. But this one has better songs.

I feel someone giving you a mixtape of novelty songs at age 11 really does something fundamental to your personality. I know because it happene4d to me!

I love "Daves I Know"...everyone should check out the video too.

I questioned putting a couple of things on there, like does he really need to hear about loving half a bee "semi-carnally," until I remembered that I discovered Python when I was 10 and probably ignored that line until I figured out what it meant several years later. And I turned out to be a perfectly fine, well-adjusted member of society.......
