Whoops, that's a song... not an album. This one's a good album, too, though.

CDS: 42, not including singles but including Mark. E Smith (Post Nearly Man). Also, I have not bought a live Fall CD in more than 10 years! I don't have 'Room To Live.' I was so excited when it first came out on CD but I was then infuriated that it was made directly from a scratchy lp that I never bothered to buy it when it was reissued again and again (with presumably better source/remastering?) Same with 'In A Hole,' which actually had skips from the vinyl preserved in the shitty first cd reissue.

Sorely missing the late 80's/90's. Should probably do something about that really. I wonder if the reissues are still cheap in Fopp.

I don't get the whole Fall thing. Some people are not going to like them or get it. It's not going to change. Also it's none of yr business how many Fall records I own.

I own about a hundred Fall items, maybe 65 CD/30 vinyl/5 DVD & DVD-audio, plus a few CD-R boots. For a couple of years I guess I was headed toward getting more or less everything, but these days I stop short of picking up most new compilations and archival live albums. But then there seems to be less superfluous Fall product being issued these days than there was around 1995-2005.

eatandoph, Saturday, 7 August 2010 15:23 (fifteen years ago)

I used to own everything through The Unutterable in college (except oddly Shift-Work). Most have been pruned to a bunch of mix-CDs, but I still have my genuine purchased CDs of Live At The Witch Trials, Totale's Turns, Grotesque, Early Fall, Slates/A Part Of America Therein, Hex Enduction Hour, This Nation's Saving Grace, and In The Palace of Swords Reversed. Just tossed Perverted By Language and 458489ASides.

i'm down to only 18. !!! I used to have a lot more but decided I could live with rips of a fair amount of it. so I have:

early fall

witch trials
dragnet
grotesque
hex
perverted
wonderful frightening world
this nation's saving grace
bend sinister
frenz
oranj
middle class revolt
light user
levitate
marshall suite
unutterable

Bend Sinister

Plus the comps:
Totally Wired
A-Sides
Peel Box

There probably should be more of the early ones in the collection but I've always been scared off by the series of supposedly dubious reissues. I guess the newest batch are probably safe to pick up though, huh

These songs came out on different labels (Rough Trade & Kamera, respectively) — is this a reissue?

The Castle/Sanctuary releases from 2004 onward are all fine, though the '90s albums are maybe a tad compressed. Beggars Banquet have been promising deluxe reissues of Wonderful & Frightening World and This Nation's Saving Grace for a while — W&FW is supposed to be a four-disc (!) set, later this year. The existing Beggars CDs of these albums are pretty murky-sounding IMO.

eatandoph, Saturday, 7 August 2010 16:20 (fifteen years ago)

I may be conflating 2 singles? can't check - vinyl is in storage. definitely bought in 1981/82, perhaps a US-only release. believe it was on rough trade.

I've got 32 'albums', which includes box sets and 5 CD singles, plus a ton of digital albums. I hug the Peel box sometimes.

Gerald McBoing-Boing, Saturday, 7 August 2010 17:51 (fifteen years ago)

I have 20 of their actual albums and 3 compilations.

I counted once and got to 20, though I don't remember if I was just counting albums or singles too (only have maybe 4 or 5 singles). May have a couple more since then. Possibly the only band you can own 20 releases by and still feel like a mere ignorant dabbler in the face of TRUE FAN opinion.

(Well, I guess there are some more of those in ILM-land, but this may be the only one where I actually meet said true fans in real non-internet life from time to time and make the mistake of acknowledging one of their references, only to be shown up by further obscurantism.)
