Take sides: "Footloose" Soundtrack or "Dirty Dancing" Soundtrack?

Do the '60s hits off the latter unbalance the question? Maybe we should restrict it to the hits: Footloose, Holding Out for a Hero, Let's Hear It for the Boy vs. She's Like the Wind, Hungry Eyes, I've Had the Time of My Life?

Is this even close? Footloose OST could have been entirely Korn covers of Better Than Ezra songs plus "Let's Hear It For the Boy" and it would still win.

Yeah, including the sixties chestnuts is totally unfair, as I'd rather hear "Love is Strange" and "Do You Love Me?" than "Overload" and "Yes."

I will say, though, that what seemed sinister at the time now looks shrewd. Releasing "Do You Love Me?" as a single recontexualized it as a 1988 hit yet made its chart colleagues sound so tame and toothless.

You're forgetting "Almost Paradise." (Coincidentally, co-written by Eric Carmen.)

speaking of Bonnie Tyler, do any of her period albums live up to those singles?

I've never thought much about the Dirty Dancing soundtrack since a) I wasn't allowed to watch the movie b/c my mom said it was "racy" even though I'd just go to the other room and watch late night skin flicks on Showtime; and b) the parody of "She's Like The Wind" that Q105 played, "She Passes Wind", overwhelmed my young mind.

I still have a copy of the Footloose soundtrack; "Dancing In The Sheets"!
