Classic in its original form back in the day.

Dud because nowadays it's just a way for ugly, misshapen girls to pretend they're sexy.

TS: Burlesque, Steampunk, or Steely Dan?

Les centimètres énigmatiques (snoball), Wednesday, 18 August 2010 18:38 (fifteen years ago)

Um, thirdalternative, burlesque (and also belly dancers) aren't necessarily doing it for the male gaze.

ὑστέρησις (Sanpaku), Wednesday, 18 August 2010 18:38 (fifteen years ago)

Not necessarily, but usually.

Even accepting your framing, is this a bad thing? Everyone has the right to pretend they're sexy.

How hot is third altetaive in comparison with your average burlesque team?

kkvgz, Wednesday, 18 August 2010 20:31 (fifteen years ago)

is thirdalternative a dom sock? he's always being a bit "challenging opinions for you" and this burlesque hating is straight out of dom's handbook (his line being that burlesque girls get away with being so hacket in comparison to normal strippers because dudes who like trivium are less concerning than regular blokes or whatever).

Think this "burlesque girls are uglier than honest strippers" is probably a U.K. thing anyway.

think Dom's argument was more "lol middle class goths playing at sex workers" tbh

Not my favourite Family single, but still good

As opposed to Dom, the middle class goth who just pays for sex workers.

What an ill formed thread.

I have problems of mine own with Burlesque (and Boyesque or whatevs) but this thread smells too much of semen stained tighty whities to talk in any seriousness within.

this is one of those threads where I click expecting to see "(9 years ago)" but instead it's "(Yesterday)" and it's not even a good troll

Misshapen? Really?

welp, i think we can all let this thread slink away

('_') (omar little), Thursday, 19 August 2010 15:14 (fifteen years ago)

and it's not even a good troll

Somehow this brought to my mind an image of several supercilious posters standing around, swilling around in their mouths and sniffing at its bouquet. "I say, THIS is very good troll!"
