destined for six posts in nine years or whatever, but i like this band as much as anything currently ongoing, so they must deserve a thread. started cuz i ordered a copy of the cunts with roses LP off an internet person a while back and am listening to it today. one riff and some motorcycles for 30 minutes or so. drums, guitars, drums, noise, filters and more drums. makes my head feel like it is made of a thousand bugs and each little bug is being individually squashed by a giant boot. or not really, but still pretty good.
band revolves around craig clouse, who was (was in) todd, and also hammerhead, i am told, for a brief time. he was once an american, though the band operates out of london. have wanted to see them live since forever, but have not. things don't happen in seattle. or when they do i am strategically unawares. in any event, i know that acoleuthic likes their classic "toilet door tits" single almost as much as i do, and has written about it far better than i ever will. other than that they seem to have few friends, perhaps owing to their unfortunate name.
[i]229-2299 girls against shit/i] wound up one of my very favorite albums of 2009, for good reason, and their recent "bass puppy" 12-inch rubs some gib on a dubstep and pretends that it a song.
please post here when you hear them, or when they are going to play seattle, or just when you are really shitty drunk, thank you.

Still need to hear Girls Against Shit - only have Kuss Mich Mein Liebe - which is great all the way through but features that aforementioned grand highlight - cheers for starting the thread! One of the best noise bands ever, based on what I've heard

hey, LJ, that was fast. anyway, yeah, if you like kuss mich meine liebe, you should check out girls against shit. their two best full-lenghts, imo, and the latter edges the former, though it's got no single track to touch the tits. "cunts with roses" comes close, fwiw.

did you see them when they toured through in the past year? it wasn't the full band - they were out here playing SXSW
― sarahel, Wednesday, 25 August 2010 18:32 (fifteen years ago)
nah. dunno whether or not they played the northwest. if they did, i slept.

hmm - maybe they just did SXSW and the Bay Area?
― sarahel, Wednesday, 25 August 2010 18:40 (fifteen years ago)
wouldn't be surprised if they played here. none of my friends are fans, so i probably wouldn't have heard word.

I've been meaning to listen to S&S for a while now, most recently after reading a review of "Bass Puppy". Another reason to get my ass in ear and do it!
(They played here a year or so ago with a couple of great bands - and I missed the whole lot)

Craig, his wife and two daughters (that's them on the gatefold sleeve to Girls Against Shit) are moving back to the States soon. What this means for Shit And Shine (a truly fucking awesome live band) and Todd is anyone's guess but I presumed they were both being shelved.

"bass puppy" is some of the dirtiest, best shit i've heard in a while and is completely out of my league being a lady and all. gateway?

and a good one, but nothing else they've ever done bears the slightest trace of the step that is dub. next thing i'd sign up with, were i curious, would be kuss mich meine liebe, which came out on load a couple years back. mostly recommended for the towering & hallowed majesty of "toilet door tits", which will stomp a mudhole in it, as they say.

The DVD that comes with "Cherry" is killer. All those drummers = bad acid Boredoms.

I had never heard these guys (this guy?) until today when I got my head kicked in by Ladybird, some of the best, most outrageous noise rock I’ve ever heard. It’s like Outside the Dream Syndicate drenched in acid and exploding with malevolence. “Bad acid Boredoms” is actually kind of otm…

some interesting ideas but more shit than shine
― CerebralCaustic, Monday, 6 February 2023 04:00 (two years ago)
Ladybird does not have interesting ideas. It's one idea, one loop, and fuck me if it isn't given the most massive hypnotic krautrock sound this side of the 20th century. It takes ten seconds to convince me, every time, and I can never stop it until it has run at least 15 of its 43 minutes, often much more. If there's a more physical piece of rock music out there, I haven't heard it.
