this has got to be the hardest band to track down! does anybody know where i could find some .mp3s or sound samples of their music? i'm very curious how something so lauded by critics could completely fall by the wayside in a short few years.

pretty difficult. There's a comp of theirs i want but can't find (or should that be 'I always forget to look for').

thing is. how many critics have got behind them anyway? Good luck in finding it (i'll be looking for it as well).

but as i recall mixing it also broadcast a gig of theirs. Marcus russell is a fan. OK, so that's TWO critics, which is bettah than ONE!

i saw kenny process team supporting, um, Hood, i think at the packhorse in Leeds circa 96/7...

hmm, does anyone think they sound like the montgolfier brothers on 78?

twenty years pass...

Been listening to 94-97 comp (now available in YT). Such a solid record.

You know the CD off Grow Fins where the magic band are rehearsing songs off Trout Mask Replica without Don's voice over the top? This is an attempt at a copy and it's great.

I have one seven inch single from 97 on guided missile, which I listened to quite a bit. don't know what that guitar sound is, but I associate it with a few genres from africa in the 60s/70s - and yeah the stuttering rhythms sound like some beefheart records. interested to check out more.

it's using the beefheart kaleidoscope to view '60s/'70s ronnie hazlehurst tv themes that really sets them apart.
i always heard some kinda gerry anderson / joe meek afropop in there somehow too
fond memories of eugene chadbourne sitting in with them when they supported ruins decades ago.
they have a couple of more recent releases on bandcamp after a reboot with rhodri marsden on second guitar - maybe slightly less urgent than "surfin' with" but plenty good anyway, cos there ain't much better than "surfin' with" unfair yardstick that they set emselves
