I Wanna Be a Hippy by Technohead vs Because I Got High by Afroman

Two very different records - certainly tempo wise (maybe because one is concerned with intention whereas the other with the aftermath!) but which do you prefer?

...be good to see whether the fact that Afroman did not inspire a Smurfs spin-off will influence anyone's decision.

I remember a story from back then, where the "hippy" song was done at a school concert (pre-school, I believe) where they dressed the nippers as hippies and they basically ran around silly with comedy spliffs.

Actually the Smurfs spinoff was No Limit, an inexplicable number one single in, where else, Holland.

Siegbran, yes, but they did this too.

which was appropriate, seeing as the Smurfs were Belgian:

OH AND ITS WAVVES (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 1 November 2010 21:22 (fourteen years ago)

Well I don't live in the USA but we do share the same sort of chart hits here in Mexico. I don't think 'I wanna be a hippy' was particulary big over here, it could be possible that this thread is the first time I even listen to it.

re: the Outhere Brothers, the original non-radio version is pretty explicit. My mother confiscated the album when I was young boy, after she realised the album version had the line "can I take you from behind" loudly in the verses.

Does anyone have any idea how the line after "I want to be a hippie and I want to get stoned on mari marijuana" goes? All I could ever decipher is "I want to something something got to leave home for mari marijuana". Lyrics sites suggest the line goes "I want to be a wonder way guy to leave home for mari marijuana", but that makes no sense to me.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 2 November 2010 14:33 (fourteen years ago)

I always heard it as "I want to be a runaway guy and leave home", which doesn't make that much sense either, but more than "wonder way" as far as I'm concerned

p.s. Technohead by 6000 light years
