What else is worth hearing...?

ilxor has truly been got at and become an ILXor (ilxor), Thursday, 2 September 2010 18:05 (fourteen years ago)

What kind of stuff is this label known for?

markers, Thursday, 2 September 2010 18:11 (fourteen years ago)

It's like "psych" stuff?

markers, Thursday, 2 September 2010 18:12 (fourteen years ago)

As far as I can tell it's a hodgepodge of psych, folk/improv., drone, ambient, found sound, etc.

Between Two Skies/Towards The Night by Ilyas Ahmed -- i think that's on digitalis? pretttay prettay good.

tylerw, Thursday, 2 September 2010 18:21 (fourteen years ago)

Digitalis (or perhaps the spin-off Foxglove) did a terrific Vluba release. It seems to me that the title was some kind of series of punctuation marks, had a silver sleeve.

ImprovSpirit, Thursday, 2 September 2010 18:35 (fourteen years ago)

i haven't been paying as much attention lately, but remember that christina carter and gown release was pretty great (though bear in mind that i am a HUGE sucker for charalambides). i also realllllly love most everything i've heard from hush arbors, definitely one of my favorite psych-folk acts- not too different of a vibe from older skygreen leopards/jewelled antler stuff

Ned Raggett to thread.
Glad to see Hush Arbors love, former bandmate of mine.

Trip Maker, Thursday, 2 September 2010 18:44 (fourteen years ago)

The Futurians "Radio Futurian" is pretty cool.

Trip Maker, Thursday, 2 September 2010 18:45 (fourteen years ago)

xpost Hello there. Yes, get everything. Brad and Eden are good people. More later, am en route to On Land Festival, where folks like Ilyas are playing.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 2 September 2010 18:47 (fourteen years ago)

And the Futurians are led by former ILXor Ducklingmonster! Great person, great band.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 2 September 2010 18:48 (fourteen years ago)

also search: mudboy, scott tuma, zelienople, and in a much different vein that roll the dice album really is INCREDIBLE- mnml techno meets dub techno meets new age/ambient, made by the guys who produced the more recent knife/fever ray output. so awesome that they're releasing stuff like that now

and i wish i hadn't just moved away from sf so i could go the that on land thing, the lineup is insanely solid for all 4 (?) days

ImprovSpirit, Thursday, 2 September 2010 18:50 (fourteen years ago)

Love Hush Arbors so much, the Digitalis 3+1 CD compilation from a few years ago (Gold Leaf Branches, I think) is also great. I need to check out more of this catalogue.

Digitalis is a great label. Now I am extremely excited for this Garden Sound album to come out. Eternal Tapestry + Barn Owl. How can this not be great?

van smack, Friday, 3 September 2010 17:51 (fourteen years ago)

Speaking of which Barn Owl killed it again last night.

Just found a copy of that Brother Raven LP - I missed it at the time.

Of recent releases, I really enjoyed the Niggas With Guitars LP and Motion Sickness Of Time Travel's 'Seeping Through the Veil of the Unconscious' LP is probably my favourite thing Digitalis has ever put out.

Lawrence English's Kiri No Oto is a welcome vinyl reissue too.

Barnaby, Hardly, Monday, 25 April 2011 19:07 (fourteen years ago)

I know I saw Brother Raven recently, but I don't remember much about it.

Heads up that Brad has decided to move from Substack, because Substack. Details in this thread:

Like others, I have peaced out from Substack b/c of some shitty/sketchy actions & it increasingly was not a platform I wanted to associate with. So, with that I kicked it back to 2013 and Foxy Digitalis is, once again a sweet website like it should be. https://t.co/juRgberiEp

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 13 April 2021 15:53 (four years ago)

Right on. Haven't checked in to digitalis in a decade or so.

trip maker, Tuesday, 13 April 2021 16:31 (four years ago)

Well, to be fair to yourself, it didn't really exist between 2013 and this year, so it's not as if you missed a ton.

Brad's now also started a related podcast, The Electric Rubicon, and the second episode is about the 3 CD 2005 Gold Leaf Branches compilation he put out, a wonderrful time/place collection still
