Prodigy - Return of the Mac vs. Styles P - The Ghost Sessions

i recall these coming out around the same time & being kinda throwbacks to earlier sounds -- for the purposes of this poll, plz ignore the Style P bonus tracks. Styles already has a disadvantage cuz his is less known, no need to hold some wack rock remixes against him too

zvookster, Sunday, 5 September 2010 20:00 (fifteen years ago)

as straight up albums vs. albums i'd go with Prodigy but I'm voting for Styles because that was one of 3 really quality CDs he dropped in the space of like a year and he never really got his due for that

what's Prodigy solo like in comparison to Mobb Deep? I love MD's first two albums, especially Prodigy's lyricism....

funky brewster (San Te), Sunday, 5 September 2010 21:07 (fifteen years ago)

P's definitely not the rapper he used to be but there's kind of a dope thousand yard stare numbness to his recent solo stuff and Return Of The Mac is all Alchemist beats, killer shit

NYPD, NEW YORK PRICKS & DICKS

the embrace of waka flocka is v pertinent (deej), Sunday, 5 September 2010 21:18 (fifteen years ago)

yeah it's a shame, Styles has about as much of a work ethic plus quality control as any NYC rapper the last few years but people don't really notice and he has such a weird scattered release schedule. loved the Green Ghost Project but i'm not even sure what else he's released this year, apparently there was something called the Ghost Dub-Dime and i vaguely remember him publishing a novel that may have had a soundtrack CD?

flaccid house (The Reverend), Sunday, 19 September 2010 17:55 (fifteen years ago)
