the only small criticism i have of this beautiful song is that they don't let the triple or quadruple up on the "whoa-oh" part at the end of the song

in fact i would love if someone ended up making a mix where they just let that part play out at the end for a lil

J0rdan S., Monday, 6 September 2010 03:37 (fifteen years ago)

90% chance i hear this song if i listen to rap radio for an hour

banshun, Monday, 6 September 2010 08:08 (fifteen years ago)

chorus to this is straight outta the 90s and already feels like a classic - the rapping is just 'good' imo but this is a song everyone can get behind

this. and i only first heard it yesterday, the once, and not since - it's pretty ridiculous

r|t|c, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 15:31 (fifteen years ago)

fancier new video kinda mirrors the rap's lackadaisical endearingness & the song's general peculiar radio incongruity - half-assed college plot, palm tree in front of a brit red phonebox (?), dramatic girls furiously dancing in the rain to god knows what but def not this

r|t|c, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 15:42 (fifteen years ago)

i've mentally put this alongside greg nice's "this that shit" in oddly retro-sounding laid-back good-times jams from this year. love it.

aw nice to hear some old school west coast style live bass, reminds me of older quik and dre and too short stuff

why does everyone on party/dance rap songs these days sound so bored? not asking for everyone to sound like mystikal or busta rhymes but damn you used to at least be able to count on ringtone rappers to come off happy or excited.

some dude, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 17:41 (fifteen years ago)

this some dude post is a valid criticism of party rap songs c. 2010

but it is not a valid criticism of toot it and boot it

samosa gibreel, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 17:44 (fifteen years ago)

aight maybe i should listen to it again. but after all the caps and exclamation points i put it on and was like wait this is the same sleepy-ass song i saw on MTV Jams a while back, it's at least not as monotone as "Teach Me How To Dougie" but still.

some dude, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 18:11 (fifteen years ago)

nah you were totally right the first time, although you should listen to it again anyway cos the sleepyness is the charm people are finding in it. also you could kinda pretend kells is signing the hook?

the general point stands though, it's interesting. like i was loving jeezy's 'ji... er, the song 'jizzle' by the rapper young jeezy, but it still very obviously felt a little out of touch with the modern swag, with or without jon. reflex cool reaction to fraught dramas of radio eurodance jacking i guess?

r|t|c, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 18:37 (fifteen years ago)

rock n roll individual (The Reverend), Wednesday, 8 September 2010 08:40 (fifteen years ago)

glad you finally found the mature entertainment trey songz was unable to provide

r|t|c, Monday, 20 September 2010 08:42 (fifteen years ago)

are we still doing that? i like trey! i think much contemporary pop (soulja, ke$ha, this) is infantile. i like that stuff equally well and occasionally better than somewhat more grown up pop (let's say, the current ne yo) and when i DO want genuine "mature entertainment" I tend to look to other sources than teenagers talking about their one night stands. am i absolved yet?
