Soulstreamers: A Mobile Music Project to Keep Vinyl Record Culture Alive

Hey guys. I am venturing into a creative business with two guys from Chattanooga that I DJ with regularly. WHAT: The Soulstreamers are a group of three soul music lovers who are creating a mobile record store in an airstream trailer, preserving and spreading vinyl culture. We will travel across the country half the year in our record mobile, deejaying parties and inspiring people to participate in vinyl record culture. We will see you at record fairs, parties, festivals, venues and more.

WHY WE ARE DOING WHAT WE DO: We believe in preserving the culture of the vinyl record. We are three individuals with one binding interest: our love for 45 rpm records.

WHERE: We will take our mobile record enthusiasm coast to coast every year! We want to see the world and share records with everyone. We want dance parties in the low country, dance parties in the delta, dance parties in the desert and dance parties on the beach.

WHEN: We are currently negotiating the purchase of our Airstream and need the funds to buy, pick up and renovate it. We WILL make this happen but could use a tad of financial help to get this going. We already have knowledge, drive and deejays for the project. Now we just need to get this trailer AND get it outfitted for the venture! Will you help?

thanks! i have had the idea for many years but just found the right people to enter the venture with. it is going to be hard getting it all renovated because we are buying a gutted trailer so we can start from scratch to build record shelves and such. good thing the other two are far better and construction than I am.

There is no van involved, dude. Just a big truck and a trailer.

It is an airstream trailer. We are installing solar panels to power a DJ booth that will actually sit just outside the trailer when we are stopped.

Itinerary?

Once we get the trailer renovated, we will be booking festivals, record shows and venues starting Spring 2011.

we are still dreaming of doing this. our last kickstarter raised $1400 but we got none of it because we fell short of our total goal. we decided to revise the pitch, shoot for a smaller and target and hope for the best (again). we are going to do all the labor totally DIY and with scraps from a friend's job sites to save money...
