thinking about Cygnus X - Superstring recently, i know Siegbran suggests that this has been improved over the years by successive beefier remixes, but i prefer the original because of its lightness - its actually quite fluffy

then last week, i was thinking of Progressive Attack's Secrets Of Love, and although that tries to marry belgian 91isms to harthouse 93/4isms it shares a certain similarity.

and then i realised.

1. quiet kick drums, almost muffled
2. lots of little percussion, tiny breaks

i like this sound. what other hildenbeutel stuff is good?

I can see the 'fluffiness' of these tracks - basically the lack of emphasis on the bass freqs and those distinct hihat rhythms. I loved that sound in 1993, but somehow I can't recapture that feeling anno 2002. I expect you already have the Behind The Eye compilations, which do contain the best Hildenbeutel tracks? Barbarella "My Name Is Barbarella" is quite good too (= Vath & Hildenbeutel).

For different artists in that olde trance style, look for the original mix of A.L.S.O. "The Meltdown", Digital Excitation "Sunburst (Cubic 22 Remix)" and Exit EEE "Epidemic (Straight From Heaven Mix)".

I suppose you already found this discography?
