Search: (Because they sound like FIREHOSE songs when done by fIREHOSE)
Mannequin
Slack Motherfucker

Kinda Destroy:
Yet another version of Red & Black.

If you've forgotten:
THE RED AND THE BLACK, SOPHISTICATED BITCH, REVOLUTION (PART TWO), SLACK MOTHERFUCKER, WHAT GETS HEARD, MANNEQUIN, MAKIN' THE FREEWAY

I always liked fIREHOSE's version of "Red and the Black" alot better than the B.O.C. original. B.O.C. rhythm section has that bad 70s unfunky qualude lilt that takes the life out of so many songs.

fIREHOSE was alot of fun live.

I FUCKING LOVE THIS BAND TO BITS.

ddb (ddb), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 17:26 (nineteen years ago)

Mike Watt is the only bassist I've ever seen break a string in concert. I bet he crushes bricks with his bare hands for a hobby.

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 17:27 (nineteen years ago)

I LOVE THIS BAND TOO

city of gyros (chaki), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 18:26 (nineteen years ago)

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 18:32 (nineteen years ago)

Mike Watt has broken at least one bass string *every* time I've seen him. (maybe he buys cheap strings - Jammin econo, indeed!)

dave's good arm (facsimile) (dave225.3), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 18:33 (nineteen years ago)

i break strings all the time especially on stage. shasta, i dont understand what this has to do with the valley seeing as though most of fIREHOSE is from san pedro but whatever.

city of gyros (chaki), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 18:37 (nineteen years ago)

I remember seeing fIREHOSE (and Basehead) open for the Beastie Boys at the Troc in Philly, and the B. Boys rapped on "Sophisticated Bitch." At least, that's what my memory says.

Josh in Chicago (Josh in Chicago), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 19:42 (nineteen years ago)

I saw fIREHOSE, Basehead and the then-unknown Stone Temple Pilots open for the Butthole Surfers at Lake Castaic which google tells me happened in the summer of 1993.

fIREHOSE covered "Slack Motherfucker".

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 19:56 (nineteen years ago)

city of gyros (chaki), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 20:29 (nineteen years ago)

I saw fIREHOSE at Cal Poly Pomona, but don't remember any string breakage. And ditto for Dos at Arthurfest, though my eardrums felt like they were breaking now and then. Even saw the Minutemen at an LA Street Scene festival, but don't remember much of anything except that I loved it.

The EP is classic all the way. Does anyone know why he sings "Gary Shandling, Gary Shandling" during one song?

nickn (nickn), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 20:59 (nineteen years ago)

Because it's a cover of the Butthole Surfers song where Gibby says "gary shandling" over and over again?

DOQQUN (donut), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 21:04 (nineteen years ago)

this is the theme to gary's show. the opening theme to gary's show.
btw ITS GARY SHANDLING SHOW took place in sherman oaks!!!

Emergency fund set up for ed fROMOHIO:
https://www.gofundme.com/f/ed-fromohio-firehose-crawford-needs-our-help

Hey everyone - My name is David Ciley, some of you know me as Sigga, and I organized this GFM campaign for Ed Crawford. Some of you know him as Ed fROMOHIO! The singer and guitarist of the band fIREHOSE. Since March, Ed has been out of work and he has been sleeping in his car since July. Though he has been, and is currently, looking for steady work, what income he is able to find has gone to sustenance and has not allowed him to save to get into an apartment or even a room of his own! He lives in Pittsburgh and winter is FAST approaching!! So here's what I am looking to do:

I am trying to get Ed $8,000 ASAP, if not more, so that he can have first and last month's rent and a security deposit on at least an efficiency apartment in or around Pittsburgh. If we can do that he is going to need to turn and keep the lights, heat and water on for a little bit while he looks for steady work! He is also going to have to buy groceries and maybe he might have a little left over after that.

The idea is to get him back on his feet in a stable environment and to buy him enough time to lock in some solid income! Many of us know how hard it can be to just get enough saved to get indoors and maintain it! Keeping one's self fed and alive tends to come first when their is very little income.
