Who got love for Fat Joe's The Darkside Vol. 1?

As East Coast as any East Coast rap album has sounded in a minute. Not a track I don't like on this joint, especially "How Did We Get Here", "I am Crack", and the single "Ha Ha". also "If It Ain't About Money" has a kickass Trey Songz chorus. dude just sounds so inspired, fantastic cadences and clever lyrics.

one of the better albums I've heard this year -- thoughts?

this is a p. good album but not something i gotta bump all the time imo

flaccid house (The Reverend), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:09 (fifteen years ago)

yeah its a great album although i think his records have been intermittently underrated for awhile

the songs with r kelly & trey songz & too short are my favorites

yeah, this album is pretty ok w/ me. "I am crack" and "ha ha" are my faves

my friend flocka (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:10 (fifteen years ago)

i bump it more than most new rap records lately!

i mean, yeah, it's good joe sounds totally on top of things but even super-inspired fat joe is still like 4/5, "lean back" aside

flaccid house (The Reverend), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:11 (fifteen years ago)

i should bump this

flaccid house (The Reverend), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:11 (fifteen years ago)

sounds interesting. gonna get this.

titchy (titchyschneiderMk2), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:11 (fifteen years ago)

brainwasher & i talked about this in rolling ringtone but hes right that the clipse track is the weakest

if you can put a ceiling fan in your van (deej), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:14 (fifteen years ago)

that's prob otm. ain't nearly as good as the ghost/rae track they flipped

flaccid house (The Reverend), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:15 (fifteen years ago)

yeah pretty dope record

post-2000 Fat Joe albums ranked: Loyalty > Me Myself & I > Darkside Vol. 1 > J.O.S.E. > All Or Nothing > Elephant In The Room (never heard J.O.S.E. 2)

some dude, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:18 (fifteen years ago)

"Lean Back" was like Fat Joe/Terror Squad on another plane. really my favorite 'summer' jam of the entire decade probably.

turn in yer badge (San Te), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:19 (fifteen years ago)

yea Joe's underrated, he didn't do himself many favors with that godawful "What's Luv" single in the early 00s tho.

turn in yer badge (San Te), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:20 (fifteen years ago)

'loyalty' is the one w/ the early cool & dre shit right? good record

if you can put a ceiling fan in your van (deej), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:23 (fifteen years ago)

i like 'whats luv' the way i like 'makin love to the money'

if you can put a ceiling fan in your van (deej), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:24 (fifteen years ago)

its not really about the artist's appeal (altho i guess kells is kinda responsible w/ that one) than it is like ... popular momentum & melodic insistence

if you can put a ceiling fan in your van (deej), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:24 (fifteen years ago)

"what's luv" is the ashanti one, "we thuggin'" is the r. kelly one.

some dude, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:28 (fifteen years ago)

"we thuggin" is like 80x better than "what's luv"

flaccid house (The Reverend), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:29 (fifteen years ago)

yea that was the era when Ashanti was unfortunately all over the radio.

turn in yer badge (San Te), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:30 (fifteen years ago)

i've listened to pretty much every Fat Joe record ever exactly once

my friend flocka (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:31 (fifteen years ago)

also R. Kelly has this way of just making every song at least 25% more awesome. especially on that Biggie track from Life After Death

turn in yer badge (San Te), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:31 (fifteen years ago)

oh we thuggin is what im thinking of yeah

if you can put a ceiling fan in your van (deej), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:32 (fifteen years ago)

'the world is filled' is probably my favorite song on life after death

if you can put a ceiling fan in your van (deej), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:33 (fifteen years ago)

that or 'i love the dough'

if you can put a ceiling fan in your van (deej), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:33 (fifteen years ago)

that second Terror Squad album was pretty good too, to add to the Fat Joe suggestions. not to slight the first, just haven't heard the first one.

lol that songz hook takes up like 2/3 of the whole song

i suspect i'll like this because i really like the new rick ross record and they're both p nefarious fat dudes who rap kinda slow that i never really gave a shit about aside from a few tracks. feelin like it's a good year for nefarious fat dudes who i've underestimated
