My Chemical Romance - “Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)”
lol is this really the name of the song?
― shartopus (J0rdan S.), Monday, 27 September 2010 21:24 (fifteen years ago)
i listened to it this morning like 3 minutes after i woke up so i should listen again
― shartopus (J0rdan S.), Monday, 27 September 2010 21:25 (fifteen years ago)
I haven't heard anything in that list except Paramore (s'okay), 30STM (ugh) and Train (which I have a hard time believing could be anyone's favorite anything... sorry). Gonna YouTube the others tonight.

I actually kind of liked the STP album. (Also Ratt's, on Warner-distributed Roadrunner, if that counts.)

i love that other train song too. you haven't listened to the album, have you?
xps

i'll ride for "drops of jupiter" but "hey soul sister" is outrageously bad
― shartopus (J0rdan S.), Monday, 27 September 2010 21:27 (fifteen years ago)
the neon trees joint is good too
what the fuck is a Cavo
― shartopus (J0rdan S.), Monday, 27 September 2010 21:28 (fifteen years ago)
Cavo's one of those anonymous bands nobody who doesn't listen to an 'active' rock station has ever heard of. that song's really good, though.

I wouldn't know they existed if I didn't listen to WAAF

jordan i'd be surprised if you didn't like "meet virginia"
― kellspolaris (k3vin k.), Monday, 27 September 2010 21:38 (fifteen years ago)
is that the new train song? i heard it on the radio and remembered liking it, altho it had some of the dumbest lyrics i'd heard in a long ass time
my problem is that "hey soul sister" sounds like jason mraz whereas "drops of jupiter" sounded like the goo goo dolls
― shartopus (J0rdan S.), Monday, 27 September 2010 21:40 (fifteen years ago)
"Hey Soul Sister" is so terrible it acquired some kind of dignity when my friends and I sang "Hey HEEEEYYHEEHEHEHEHEYYYYY!" all Labor Day weekend.
― raging hetero lifechill (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 27 September 2010 21:44 (fifteen years ago)
lol "meet virginia" is turn-of-the-century and a classic; i think the one you're thinking of is "if it's love" (which i was referring to in my first post). it's real good, especially the bridge - dumb lyrics are part & parcel of train's package tho it seems, you gotta be okay with getting a little dumber
― kellspolaris (k3vin k.), Monday, 27 September 2010 21:52 (fifteen years ago)
"If It's Love" has really generic music and such hilariously hamhanded lyrics that it makes some kind of perfect sense that Pete Wentz directed the video. "Hey Soul Sister" and "Meet Virginia" and "Drops Of Jupiter" have much more distinct musical hooks (although the lyrics are obviously bad in those too, just not quite as bad).

for a minute it looked like I was gonna interview Train a few weeks ago before I ended up doing a Trey Songz article instead -- kinda disappointed I didn't get to talk to them and be all "I'm the only rock critic that doesn't hate you"
looooool @ J0rdan asking if "Meet Virginia" was the new Train song!
― markers, Monday, 27 September 2010 23:08 (fifteen years ago)
"I'm the only rock critic that doesn't hate you"
classic opening line for an interview
isn't the train dude like a creepy NRO republican dude?
