played it at least 50 times in the last couple weeks. best heard on vinyl really loud on huge speakers. ideally. youtube clip is kind of a sad approximation of what the song actually sounds like, but it will have to do. okay, i'm out.

was only just looking at getting this album yesterday.

having heard that track, i may have to run back to the shop tomorrow and get it if it is anywhere near as good as that paul anka production.

Scott? You have a record I want badly:

telemann - suites d'orchestre (don quichotte/l'mperiale/l'espiegle/la bouffonne) - orchestre de chambre de rouen/albert beaucamp (philips)

The bit in that Paul Anka song at about 1.57 when the horns come in really reminds me of the Who's 'My Wife'.

this track is fantastic.

here is a grainy version with the orchestra going for it

.. and johnny harris getting his own spot in the limelight.

production is amazing, but a little anka goes a long way. and i was bummed when that wobbly/bassy organ (?) noise dropped out a minute in. my favorite part!

how is the rest of that "jubilation" record?

Zeno, Monday, 4 October 2010 08:17 (fifteen years ago)

in the live clip, anka actually walks off stage and lets johhny take centre stage who as well as going headshaking nutso, then hands over the funk to a glorious moog solo !

i would kill to see a live show like this.

john harris = hero

i have a zongamin edit of that odysey track hidden away in the archive.

they sample the james last version on that dance track. found the james last album with jubilation on it and it might actually be the one james last album i keep. VERY funky. fuzz guitar. lots of cool breaks. a lot of his records LOOK promising, but this one actually delivers. *Well Kept Secret* is the album. and i guess it is!
