Yello (those swiss fella's Boris & Dieter) gave us their 1st L.P 'Solid pleasure' in 1980...is it still a pleasure? well..I have to say I think it is one of the most important dance records ever!!..The original sleeve notes present these words "Electronics are truly their medium and their tastes reach into every imaginable direction. SOLID PLEASURE is a terrific adventure of unpredictable directions" I think it's definately those "unpredictable directions" that do it for me..

I tried to start a Yello thread a few months ago. I think seriously classic and under-rated. I don't have Solid Pleasure, but Claro Que Se is extra-ordinary.

The thing that impresses me now is how they were *latin* electronic dance, at a time when latin rhythms were totally out of fashion. Now latin music is back in a big way compare all those early Yello tracks (Downtown Samba, Pinball Cha Cha etc.) with Monsiur Coconut, or german

Aye, Yello are underated, has anyone heard "Breakin' in" by Carlos Peron, it's awesome stuff.

Peron has gone mad into the S&M scene nowadays, don;t know whether his music is still as good?

I kind of thought no one was going to take the bait!!! I'm interested in this Carlos Peron "breakin" (mentioned by steveeeee) Is it a 12" It would be good to know the details...I kind of wondered if anyone would bust my ballz (as seems to be the thing to do!!)for not mentioning 'Peron' he was only on the first two yello lp's I think...The new yello thing sounds cool too..I'm a big fan of the live at the roxy ep..well and everything else ( oh except that shirley bassey nightmare!!)
