oh oh oh i have some questions.

got a malcolm middleton album in the post today. does this mean the arabs are hanging up their straps? or is it just a temporary solo project?

and can anyone tell me about the arab strap side project lucky pierre. i have two of their singles but no nowt more about em.

and can anyone tell me what a lucky pierre is? some sort of saucy position *but what?*

i have one lucky pierre single, which i've forgot the name of, shit, its very good though, i'll google them in a minute, see if i can find it

i think an arab strap related version of atomic kittens whole again wass played last night. i thought it was terrible, indie versions of pop nead to treads carefully, i mean, who wants to be another travis ruining britney, really, bands take the wrong elements of pop songs, and get it wrong

there's one called 'blank for your own message' and another one that mightn't have a name i'm not sure... i tried googling them a while ago but only came across some sort of seventies prog rock lot.

malcolm middleton album soundz real nice in places, little bit dawsons creek soundtrack in others on first listen, though i may regret saying this later. i prefer when he talks instead of singing.

the version of 'whole again' was released on lost dog recordings as a 7" by aiden and stuart brathwaite playing under the moniker of 'the sick anchors'. it's good too.

the 'lucky pierre' is the fortunate middleman in a three-man bumming chain

i do have blank for your own message, but its not that great. the really good song i was thinking of was Chloe, which is on the Pierres Final Thought 7". do you have this one Nickie?

the Sick Anchors version of Whole Again is beautiful. it's a great song (really) and they just happen to perform it how it really *should* be peformed.. at its most poignant. ie. drunken men staggering out of the pub karaeoke, reflecting on how they've hurt the person they love the most.. not Atomic kunting Kitten. their only faux-pas is not to include the original Kerry Katona spoken-word bit at the beginning.

I got the Arab Strap solo albums the other day. they're pretty much the inverse of what you'd expect.. Aidan's (Lucky Pierre) is a collection of big lush ambient instrumental soundscapes with lots of keyboard washes, while Malcolm takes on the mumbling Aidan role but does so through this kind of scary if inept character called Crappo the Clown.

listen to Malcolm's when you're drunk, lovesick and self-pitying on a night. listen to aidan's when you wake up in the morning and your brain is trying to throb its way out of your cranium.

I've got the song Chloe on that record, and it is indeed the best Lucky Pierre track.
