pioneering french independent label known for avant-garde chansonnier among other things.
search, unquestionably: pierre akendengue's nandipo and africa obota, brigitte fontaine and art ensemble of chicago's comme à la radio, fontaine and areski's l'incendie
destroy, well, i dunno. i'm not really into gabriel yared.

I think the only record I have on Saravah is a Jaques Higelin & Areski record, which I love, but not as much as I love the Brigitte Fontaine records. Sadly I don't have much to offer. I can't even read French.

If this stuff is anywhere near as good as Barouh's songs on 'Un homme et une femme', especially "Samba Saravah" then I'm looking forward to tracking it down! Barouh's vocals were especially gentle in a already gentle genre. I guess that's how he wooed Aimee.

Been enjoying Pierre Barouh's "Le Pollen" immensely lately. In which the Saravah founder decamps to Japan and records with the likes of Ryuichi Sakamoto, Yukihiro Takahashi, Yasuaki Shimizu and David Sylvian. I've never heard anything quite like the title track...
Makes sense it's about to get a reissue: https://wrwtfww.com/album/le-pollen
