I'm talking about when female singers would come together to work with artists like Tricky, Massive Attack, Plaid, etc who never really broke out on their own, but who really shone on those kinds of collaborations, like Nicolette, Shara Nelson, Martina Topley Bird, Elizabeth Troy, etc. What was your favorite collab, what was the best of their solo material (Nicolette's "Let No One Live Rent Free In Your Head" was quite great), and are their any similar collabs/singers i might be missing out on. Also where in the world can i find the songs Neneh Cherry worked on with Tricky that didn't get used for her "Woman" album? One of them is up on youtube, but that's about it...

Love this solo Shara single, written by Saint Etienne.

One Goodbye In Ten is absolutely beautiful! Probably the best track off of What Silence Knows...had no clue St Etienne had written it though...kinda makes sense now I listen back to it.

haha i used to have all these albums in the 90s. that nicolette one has survived (both in the sense that i still have it and it holds up), i listened to "no government" a lot in that week when we had no government in the UK. i wish i still had both the shara nelson ones! last i heard nicolette was working with the bug on his ladybug project, that never seemed to come to anything though...she also vocalled a john tejada track on his last album (that i can't remember at all).
i don't dislike either of martina's solo albums but they weren't quite the masterpieces i assumed she'd make back then. "carnies" is superb though.

I'm also quite into knowing if anyone has any favorite examples of female artists who weren't necessarily a part of the 90s dance scene but who had remixes commissioned by those folks...example...
