Doug Martsch solo record: does this need to exist?

I have thought of Built to Spill as a Doug Martsch solo project ever since 'Perfect From Now On'. anyways i picked up a copy of this and wanted to know what others thought, bts fans and bts haters.

one thing's for sure, it's no 'there's nothing wrong with love'

decent album or the wankings of a washed up indie god?

not nearly as redundant as Robert Pollard solo albums / side projects.

one month passes...
I have been a built to spill fan since i can remember. i love all sides of what they have done. i also am a huge fan of old blues/ slide guitar greats such as blind willie mctell and Fred McDowell so this album came along at the perfect time for me and left a perfect impression. It seems like it was something he wanted to do for a while but knew that bts wasn't the venue to do so. so, i say the album is better than good.
