Any other bands like Freescha or Boards of Canada?

I got Freescha's "Kids Fill the Floor" recently and it is incredibly, incredibly awesome. Any other bands in the same area as Boards of Canada and Freescha - the kind of childhood, hazy and beautiful stuff?

I've heard plone is kind of like that, but I don't know...

A lot of people quote them as inspiration, but I haven't heard any bands with the same overt themes.

On a darker gothier tip, Beef Terminal's 20 Goto 10 has haziness down perfect. Yes, the name does suck but the albums grate.

bola's 'fyuti' cd was everything i wanted the new BoC cd to be.

and someone here had the Christ thing on his webpage, title was something like 'free music for bloggers'. try benbecula.com radio as well.

Some Phillip Jeck, arguably.

ooh i'll second the beef terminal recommendation. dunno how boc-esque they are, but their latest alb (the grey knowledge) is a thing of fluttery beauty

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 20 August 2002 12:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Have you heard any of these?

Machine Drum Now You Know
The Remote Viewer Here I Go Again On My Own
Ulrich Schnauss Far Away Trains Passing By

All sound a bit like BoC, although not necessarily in any childhood-conjuring way. Machine Drum has a couple of newer, less BoCey releases, too.

look out for someone called (i think) Foy, or possibly Silicon Vortex (one is the track, one is the artist)

also Brothom States - well they're on Warp of course...

Arovane, "Tides"
and I'll back Curt up on Ulrich Schnauss, "Far Away Trains Passing By"
both essential.

Well what do you know, there IS a Freescha thread.

I've only just heard them today, namely the What's Come Inside You album, and I proclaim it good.

The Bibio thing on Bleep sounds like a big influence on BOC today.

theres a track on the Populous album "Queue For Love" that sounds JUST like the BOC - i think its called "Sundae Pitch"

zappi (joni), Thursday, 4 May 2006 12:20 (nineteen years ago)

i like freescha but they unsettle me in that they sound like BoC so much. That said, I thought the fake "Campfire Headphase" by Freescha was a lot better than the real one.

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 4 May 2006 12:32 (nineteen years ago)

yeah i'm still trying to ID that "i was kinda on my own/i would just like to stay exactly where i am" track. last night for the first time i noticed the sample about "the tree of life" or was it 'knowledge'?

Konal Doddz (blueski), Thursday, 4 May 2006 12:40 (nineteen years ago)

oh i was thinking about that track earlier today - it's got a very cool bassline. Who/what is it in the end?
