"What Do I Get?" - love the lyric, and the twist in the tale. Is "Boredom" not on this one? I prefer the Magazine version anyway, but I mention it because I put them both on last night.

village idiot (dog latin), Friday, 29 October 2010 14:07 (fifteen years ago)

everybody's happy nowadays

jabba hands, Friday, 29 October 2010 14:16 (fifteen years ago)

'why cant i touch it?' was used on the end credits of an episode of entourage recently

decent skinsmanship (Michael B), Friday, 29 October 2010 14:21 (fifteen years ago)

That's a fairly deep cut. Kudos to their music supervisor I suppose.

cee-oh-tee-tee, Friday, 29 October 2010 14:40 (fifteen years ago)

Why Can't I Touch It?

kornrulez6969, Friday, 29 October 2010 14:53 (fifteen years ago)

"Ever Fallen In Love" remains the perfect pop punk song.

Tied Up In Geir (Geir Hongro), Friday, 29 October 2010 15:34 (fifteen years ago)

Well the winner seems sure to end in "?"

Tim do you think "What Do I Get?" is in the same class or is the end too hokey? FYI I voted "I Don't Mind". Probably because I'm a drummer.

cee-oh-tee-tee, Friday, 29 October 2010 16:03 (fifteen years ago)

i'm sure this poll has been done before.

i love you but i have chosen snarkness (Steve Shasta), Friday, 29 October 2010 16:08 (fifteen years ago)

Ah, crap, I only searched POO. Apologies then.

cee-oh-tee-tee, Friday, 29 October 2010 16:27 (fifteen years ago)

Voted "I Don't Mind." Don't remember what I voted in the first one.

Trip Maker, Friday, 29 October 2010 16:28 (fifteen years ago)

Oh it was Promises iirc. lol breakups :/

Trip Maker, Friday, 29 October 2010 16:30 (fifteen years ago)

POO and OPO were only relevant search terms before poll-era ilx imho.

i love you but i have chosen snarkness (Steve Shasta), Friday, 29 October 2010 16:31 (fifteen years ago)

hmm... no way to choose but probly WCITI? atm. that bass + drums make me smile every time. i love the space

everything you do is a meatloaf (another al3x), Friday, 29 October 2010 17:47 (fifteen years ago)

i want you, autonomy

naked human hands and a foam rubber head (contenderizer), Friday, 29 October 2010 18:29 (fifteen years ago)

is lipstick the hardest to play from a drumming POV? i saw a video where the drummer seemed especially busy on that one.

Philip Nunez, Friday, 29 October 2010 18:53 (fifteen years ago)

Whiney can op here but I vote "WCITI?" because of the peculiarly hyper British up-jump tempo and simultaneous restraint. John Maher always played at the brink tempo-wise, in a way that invites you to try to do more? To throw in more fills and hits etc. than he played? Very difficult to stay true to and reminiscent of Gilson Lavis from Squeeze.

cee-oh-tee-tee, Friday, 29 October 2010 19:09 (fifteen years ago)

"Love You More" without hesitation.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 29 October 2010 20:31 (fifteen years ago)

"Love You More" for me as well.

sw00ds, Saturday, 30 October 2010 04:50 (fifteen years ago)

"Promises" here.

margana (anagram), Saturday, 30 October 2010 05:58 (fifteen years ago)

i could practically just close my eyes and hit any button. "love you more" i think. also really feelin "just lust" and "lipstick"

these jorts are rapha, so suck it (Hunt3r), Saturday, 30 October 2010 13:40 (fifteen years ago)

'i dont mind' explodes with ~emotion~

i think i'm big screech. samuel powers. whippin' nerds. hallelujah. (m bison), Saturday, 30 October 2010 14:05 (fifteen years ago)

Maher was really the best drummer in wave 1 of Britpunk, mainly because he didn't really play like a punk dude. Was heavy and precise beyond his generation. Like the double-bounce on the bass drum in "WCITI?" is straight outta Zep's "Good Times Bad Times."

bitch i'm jjjusten at em (Whiney G. Weingarten), Saturday, 30 October 2010 14:11 (fifteen years ago)

Why Can't I Touch It, has been a bar DJ staple of mine for over 20 years now. I mean, I like the Spiral Scratch 7" and Love Bites well enough but that one track is astounding. It still blows me away how much they achieve with the contrasting guitar rhythms, within such a tight framework.

Duran (Doran), Saturday, 30 October 2010 16:22 (fifteen years ago)

i don't mind. love this part: "I even think you hate me when you call me on the phone."

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Sunday, 31 October 2010 05:07 (fifteen years ago)

I'm not gonna be very happy if Everybody's Happy Nowadays doesn't win this.

Spikey, Sunday, 31 October 2010 13:43 (fifteen years ago)

No idea why Why Can't I Touch It gets so much attention. Songs 1-8 are probably the best run in greatest hits history. Would probably go for What Do I Get

reallysmoothmusic (Jamie_ATP), Sunday, 31 October 2010 16:03 (fifteen years ago)

My head is still spinning over this recent post combining the Chinese language, a currentish photo of the band, the album under discussion and, um, me:

love the whole thing, of course, but I had no problems picking out "Orgasm Addict"

What Do I Get

gospodin simmel, Thursday, 4 November 2010 00:05 (fifteen years ago)

Whenever I think of this release, I think of just how much the Buzzcocks went downhill when Devoto left.

Nobody for "Noise Annoys", I always loved that one.
