Imported threads from Greenspun

I've imported ~400 recent threads (~7000 messages) from ILM on Greenspun, you'll find them in the Imported category. There basically here to test/prove that we can seemlessly import from the old boards, we're not expecting you to use them or anything.

the one i looked at was upside down, i.e the most recent post that i made this afternoon was shown as the "question post" - which was more disturbing than just the answers being shown from most recent to oldest.

also when i tried to post to the thread, it gave me the posts added warning, and listed the entire thread as 'new posts'. then my added post was placed at the bottom, which due to the reversal, is now "prior to the original question" hee hee.

ps i hope that you are enjoying these challenges as they occur, graham, and aren't getting too stressed over this. it has been said over and over, but you're doing a great job.

Yeah Ron, it's a good thing problems are coming up - I'd be quite concerned if they weren't. I think the New Messages Alert was a side effect of the thread being in the wrong order - ie every other post on the thread was newer than the *last* post on the thread (which is how the thing works). Thanks.

i think that now we know it works, we should leave the threads off here until the real move happens. that way we'd avoid having two versions of threads if people start posting to them on this board

Every message posted to old-ILM up until last Saturday is now in the Imported category (I'll restore categories later), and messages since then will be added on the day we move, when I'll also unlock the threads and let them into the new answers/unanswered sections.

grrr i am having GRATE DIFFICULTY downloading the final week's threads: whether it's the heat, or saturday traffic, or whatever it is, i haf so far got nowhere in five hours and this = k-boring

I'm posting we've moved messages automatically to every thread on Greenspun. This will mean a lot of you suddenly getting responses to threads you started that you turned on notification for.
