Ou sont les cankles d'antan? (Leee), Thursday, 11 November 2010 00:24 (fifteen years ago)

Krib. Because it's the only one I can remember off this. It's beautiful though, and one of the most unabashedly pretty things they've ever done.

village idiot (dog latin), Thursday, 11 November 2010 00:51 (fifteen years ago)

is krib the one with the aerosol sound? if so then that.

jed_, Thursday, 11 November 2010 02:01 (fifteen years ago)

pencha and characi are amazing too.

jed_, Thursday, 11 November 2010 02:05 (fifteen years ago)

Krib sounds kind of like Caribbean music (hence the name) with nice dulcimer chimes and a bouncing bucephalus beat.

village idiot (dog latin), Thursday, 11 November 2010 02:20 (fifteen years ago)

sickly-sweet.

This EP seems to be a bit slept on, which is a shame as I think it's really strong. Idk if the remix concept works, it's pretty hard to detect any semblance of the original in the tracks here - nevertheless it works as a sweet spot between the poppy Cichli and the more uncompromising remainder of Chiastic Slide.

Krib is an absolute gem, I love the way the two pan pipe (not pan pipe) tracks play over and around one another. But for the sake of variety am gonna vote for something else - either Yeesland or Tilapia.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

i remember listening to tilapia while i got my wisdom teeth pulled. love how they play the beat pretty straight, then that crazy swirling sound comes in and it all starts to come apart, and eventually the kick hits real low a few times, then classic pad fade out.

i really love this whole ep though, pretty equal with envane imo.

seven years pass...

Probably my favourite thing they've ever done. Krib ftw which sounds like batteries sampled to make beats

doesn't prove anything i guess but i downloaded that track from soulseek sometime in the early 00s, after seeing it labelled as an autechre remix in a now defunct ae discography site.

neith moon (ledge), Thursday, 22 October 2020 18:24 (five years ago)

That Hamada track was like an "edit" of the Ae original track. Curious what that would have sounded like.

Source WATMM AAA: "it was a laugh, altho they remixed the hell out of it. the original mix we did was better imo (unreleased)"

octobeard, Thursday, 22 October 2020 19:42 (five years ago)

real then! wild.

lukas, Thursday, 22 October 2020 19:47 (five years ago)

<3 Characi

J. Sam, Thursday, 22 October 2020 21:33 (five years ago)

that mari hamada record rules

miwako yamaguchi from nav katze has some production credits on there too and that group had some real idm heavy hitters on their remixes:

so, I always assumed that was the connection

The other producer on that track (Maki Fuji) is in Soft Ballet who had also had a remixes collection including one from Autechre.

The title of which may be slightly lost on non-Britishers unfamiliar with Coronation Street.

Or Britishers equally unfamiliar. Fans of the Soft Ballet remix may also enjoy the ae remix of Dominique Dalcan's Aveugle and Sourd, they have a similar vibe.

Yes. This track is destroying my world today with its micro-detailed mecha-beats
