scott seward, Friday, 12 November 2010 18:17 (fifteen years ago)

i don't think i've ever heard a whole fields of nephilim album. maybe alex in nyc would let me borrow one.

scott seward, Friday, 12 November 2010 18:18 (fifteen years ago)

i just remember them from mtv. like zodiac mindwarp and the mission.

scott seward, Friday, 12 November 2010 18:18 (fifteen years ago)

fave statik artists: duh, the chameleons and the sound

(i only have the first three sound albums though. need the next three.)

scott seward, Friday, 12 November 2010 18:21 (fifteen years ago)

First three Sound records are great, but diminishing returns after that. Good dollar bin scores if you should be so lucky!

Brooker T Buckingham, Friday, 12 November 2010 18:22 (fifteen years ago)

I knew a drummer who's favorite band of all time was Fields Of Nephilim. He'd try and make me listen to them and I couldn't do it.

Brooker T Buckingham, Friday, 12 November 2010 18:23 (fifteen years ago)

Should I check out Gorguts albums other than Obscura? That's what's on my mind right now. I'm listening to Bison BC though.

Brooker T Buckingham, Friday, 12 November 2010 18:25 (fifteen years ago)

i like how this flesh for lulu album goes from the birthday party to the blow monkeys in a heartbeat.

scott seward, Friday, 12 November 2010 18:26 (fifteen years ago)

i love all gorguts. from first to last.

scott seward, Friday, 12 November 2010 18:26 (fifteen years ago)

their is a twofer cd of the first two gorguts album. and the fourth album you can probably buy for a buck on amazon or wherever.

scott seward, Friday, 12 November 2010 18:27 (fifteen years ago)

Blow Monkeys! They were slick. "He's Shedding Skin" is a great song.

Brooker T Buckingham, Friday, 12 November 2010 18:58 (fifteen years ago)

blow monkeys were one of those tricky bands where on the surface things seemed light and airy, but i think all their songs were actually about prison sex and cannibalism.

scott seward, Friday, 12 November 2010 19:09 (fifteen years ago)

Best Bolshoi record was the Giants mini album imo especially the song Happy Boy

Flesh for lulu were terrible though, sorry :(

Whatever next, Balaam and the Angel?

Sméagol-Eye Cherry (NickB), Friday, 12 November 2010 19:12 (fifteen years ago)

gotta wonder what latter-day blow monkeys sounded like.

big fun city by flesh for lulu came with a bonus EP and that is the best stuff on the album. not the actual album. kinda curious about their first album now.

scott seward, Friday, 12 November 2010 19:14 (fifteen years ago)

Again with the Blow Monkeys I'm definitely in the early-was-best camp. Wildflower was a great single. Xp

Sméagol-Eye Cherry (NickB), Friday, 12 November 2010 19:15 (fifteen years ago)

i only owned animal magic by the blow monkeys and i liked it a lot cuz it could be tough to be so gay in the 80's when you were 16. but i bailed after that. never heard the grocer's daughter album. and i've never heard their first album either. actually the forbidden fruit EP is what i heard by them first. my brother had it on tape! why did my brother have that on tape?

scott seward, Friday, 12 November 2010 19:16 (fifteen years ago)

is this really him!!!???

scott seward, Friday, 12 November 2010 19:20 (fifteen years ago)

Wow, that doesn't look like him or sound like him anymore.

Sméagol-Eye Cherry (NickB), Friday, 12 November 2010 19:24 (fifteen years ago)

it's eery.

scott seward, Friday, 12 November 2010 19:27 (fifteen years ago)

Body-snatched by Meatloaf. Kind of a second-rate Aztec Camera in hindsight eh?

Sméagol-Eye Cherry (NickB), Friday, 12 November 2010 19:28 (fifteen years ago)

As opposed to a second rate Aztec Two-Step.

Sméagol-Eye Cherry (NickB), Friday, 12 November 2010 19:30 (fifteen years ago)

Actually we need an Aztec Camera vs Inca Babies fite

Sméagol-Eye Cherry (NickB), Friday, 12 November 2010 19:32 (fifteen years ago)

Yukihiro Takahashi has one really great album, Neuromantic. His others have a few good tracks scattered over, but the next best one in terms of quality is Murdered by the Music, which is great if you skip the fake ska tracks.

The Beatniks are Yukihiro Takahashi and Keiichi Suzuki from The Moonriders. Exitentialism [sic] is a pretty good album, not great. If you like other YMO stuff you'll like it.

corey, Friday, 12 November 2010 19:35 (fifteen years ago)

wait i lied! i used to own neuromantic. mine wasn't on statik though.

scott seward, Friday, 12 November 2010 20:05 (fifteen years ago)
