Voting "Choc-Stock" just as a favorite (though I think "Your Heart Out" - maybe my second favorite - is more impressive as a composition).

Really like Printhead a lot, too.

Trip Maker, Saturday, 13 November 2010 00:18 (fifteen years ago)

I like the enthusiasm in that song - "We had a two-page/It's what we needed!"

timellison, Saturday, 13 November 2010 00:27 (fifteen years ago)

Up here in the North there are no wage packet jobs for us thank Christ.

Voted "Printhead".

A Figure Walks = perfect paranoia.

Weird Al Paca (SeekAltRoute), Saturday, 13 November 2010 02:24 (fifteen years ago)

Spectre Vs. Rector in a heartbeat, though it's the live version on "Live In London" that I prefer.

Gerald McBoing-Boing, Saturday, 13 November 2010 03:38 (fifteen years ago)

"Before the Moon Falls" has that part where it abruptly starts jerking around before settling back into its former groove... I love that. And it also quotes William Blake.

Maltodextrin, Saturday, 13 November 2010 05:30 (fifteen years ago)

This album is sheer genius from start to finish

Tom A. (Tom B.) (Tom C.) (Tom D.), Saturday, 13 November 2010 10:18 (fifteen years ago)

My favorite Fall album, I eeney-meeney-miney-moed between Psykick, Figure, Flat, and Spectre. (Spectre won.)

nickn, Thursday, 18 November 2010 00:43 (fifteen years ago)

well eeny-meeny-miny-mo is 4 bars of 4/4 so doing it with four choices is only gonna go one way

gonna listen to this all tomorrow in sequence and then decide. might do now.

I dreamed (as in slept and had a dream of) a cover of "Put Away" by Jimmy Saville.

Mark G, Thursday, 18 November 2010 09:51 (fifteen years ago)

'that joke's pathetic' + 'I don't sing I just shout - all on one note' means Your Heart Out for me. Love this album - on some days my favourite - tho oddly never had much affection for Spectre vs Rector; starts too sludgily maybe.

portrait of velleity (woof), Thursday, 18 November 2010 10:07 (fifteen years ago)

Spectre.

five years pass...

'trapped in flat of angles' always make me think of lovecraft's dreams in the witch house

am0n, Monday, 18 January 2016 17:30 (ten years ago)

Oh totally -- I assumed that was the intent

I love that this record so aggressively foregrounds the weird fiction strain of the fall

Flat of Angles = a prison cell? Or have I been misunderstanding this song all this time?

The Return of the Thin White Pope (Tom D.), Monday, 18 January 2016 19:25 (ten years ago)

I thought it just meant England

Dr X O'Skeleton, Monday, 18 January 2016 20:46 (ten years ago)

spiritual hat gaz (Drugs A. Money), Monday, 18 January 2016 20:47 (ten years ago)
