I once downloaded the incidental music from ABC World News Tonight in 1978, and listened to that for hours. The song is only a minute long, too. It kind of reminded me of Goblin, but more exciting!

The first time I heard Madrugada Eterna (the first time I heard anything off Chill-Out), I listened to it like 8 times in a row (and it's an 8+ minute song)
Polmo Polpo's Kiss Me Again and Again, I listened to for like an hour and a half when I first heard it. It's absolutely brilliant.
― EDB, Sunday, 5 December 2010 01:48 (fourteen years ago)

all the trax I mentioned have moments - timbres, melodies or shifts - that tend towards the indescribable - maybe if they're ever fully worked-out they'll lose their magic
― Cap.Obv (acoleuthic), Sunday, 5 December 2010 01:49 (fourteen years ago)
Actually, I got the madrugada Eterna stats wrong, It's 6 minutes, but I think I listened to it 13 or so times.

I alternated the slow version of "Hello It's Me" by the Nazz and the faster Something/Anything? version by Rundgren solo for a couple of hours once this year.

loved both versions more and more as they played on -- the only reason I stopped was I had to leave the house for an appointment.

Brian Eno's "Through Hollow Lands". Around 1980 I had it taped on one side of a C90 tape as many times as possible. That's only 45 minutes so I am cheating a little here. I listened to it for meditation purposes. Probably I have never come closer to satori ;- That track for me is perfect to clean my brain of those weird things people usually call thoughts.

both sides the tweed - dick gaughantravelling through the north over the tweed into scotland. for some reason this fused with a sense of an immensity of squandered potential across the UK. of industry and political energy, intellectual advancement, education and artistic adventure, pissed down the drain in national fits of nostalgia, rural and landed regression, general small mindedness, conservatism with any sized c you fancy, probably with an unt somewhere at the end of it. the idealism dick gaughan’s song, while not entirely free of some of the regressive tendencies above, was jibing nicely with alasdair gray’s motto “Work as if you live in the early days of a better nation”. so i listened to it five or six times in a row into and out of berwick.
― Fizzles, Friday, 19 January 2024 17:36 (one year ago)
perhaps worth noting this song originally came to me in Will Oldham’s Idea and Deed at the end of Joya, where “both sides the Tweed” becomes a more philosophical exhortation to civic unity and achievement. There is a third, entirely fictitious, version of this song - a figment of some misreading or misprision of mine: Berwickshire Tweed - where the same civic unity and liberty - is created through the industry of the weaving of tweed wool. in berwick. as if it were some sort of material expression of that conversion from personal liberty to civic emancipation, that’s the theme of the song.
