Lounge music is going as strong as ever and it looks as if there will be a second, even bigger revival.
London clubs like Lunar Lounge who have a great website at www.lunarlounge.co.uk are going stronger than ever and have started doing nights which feature new easy/lounge acts like The Adventures of Parsley and The Gene Drayton Unit. The night I attended in June also featured the Paisley Wheelchair Experience who take kitsch to a whole new level! They have a good site also at www.communityzero.com/paisley.

So all you doubters that thought it was a fad...well..you were wrong!
I get the feeling the next onslaught will be bigger than before and more in the mainstream. Just listen to the stuff they play on adverts!

I'm a big supporter of (neo) lounge music myself... It' chic, danceable and definitely enjoyable... Some weeks ago I was in Locarno, Switzerland, for a Film festival and they put up plenty of trendy venues for the occasion. Each night had a different dj set: breakbeat, funky house, dub, nu jazz, '80s disco and last but not least a swing/easy/lounge&exotica night! Simply put, it was terrific!!! On that night the djs came from the nearby Milan and belonged, at least a portion of them, to the Irma Records' roster! it's an italian label with many impressive releases to his credit(and also re-releases by classic film music composers such as piero umiliani). a lot of music shops are putting up a lounge section which is generally found near the electronic/IDM stuff...

I think you might have identified part of the problem here.

The return of Combustible Edison = the sign that I must go forth and kill.

Ha ha that last record of theirs (maybe not the last, but the one you always hear about) is a good example for me of a Record I've Read About for a Long Time And Finally Buy But Can't Make it Through Even Once. The fact that they were mentioned in the same breath as Stereolab just ain't right.

three years pass...

This didn't really happen now, did it?
