which is why i was so disappointed when the "walkin on the moon" video went for that inside a spaceship vibe but did it..... so cheaply

really gets overlooked in all scholarly studies of afro-futurism (xpost)

it's true that they've seemed to run on the fumes of past glories this whole time, but i feel like the best of this list attests that that's not really true. i mean, how many other rap/R&B imprints can claim that many hits of that caliber over the course of the whole decade? maybe 2 or 3 tops, if any?

this is one of those things i would have agreed w/ at the time it dropped but that slowly gets papered over & seems more classic as time passes

112 is probably the best Bad Boy act of the decade

tempted to agree with this just off of Part III and its singles, but their last 2 albums were pretty weak and devoid of hits. if 99's "Anywhere" came out a few months later it'd be a lock, though.

This is one of those things where you hear a song out and the bit that sends everyone wild is the bit you think is corny, but gradually after a while you realise that it's, like, corny in a way that rightfully sends people wild.

saw the video the other day and that song has aged well -- love that lurching loping unquantized groove

that was probably the first song I heard with Diddy playing a prominent role on it where I was like "wait, maybe he shouldn't die"

it's funny, this beat + diddy's hook makes me think of something kid cudi would do if he wasn't one of the worst artists of the past 3 years

& rapped about being rich instead of being sad

And what's going on with that youtube video xpost? I watched the whole thing thinking it was an intro to some hip hop video and I was sorely dissapointed... are they for real?

Oh! just noticed they are a real band and that they're on this poll. Whole video seemed like some spoof band and the thing about 'the dream falling apart' seemed to fit the theme. I've been waiting almost a decade for this reality show trend to die down and it just keeps going on and on and on.

Mmmm song's not bad but sounds as generic as they look.

Also anyone else notices how almost every r&b video from 1999-2001 looks like 'virtual insanity' or perhaps a much cheaper version of Jackson's Scream? Futuristic bubblegum spaceship and such.

That cut Smile off the 112 lp was tops too, cant tell you how many make-out sessions were accompanied by my 112 mix cd. Slims voice always made the ladies splash.

i'm not a huge fan of "Me & U" but that's just a very popular and well liked song, if i'd made "Official Girl" an option and that one i'd def be bitching about the Cassie fanclub but w/ "Me & U" it's not really the same thing.

Well, they definitely look awkward on the video but thought maybe they had contributed some sort of live thing that was looped and digitally transformed beyond recognition.
