i hear "I'm Single" on the radio CONSTANTLY for the past 6 months but it never charted super high so maybe it wasn't as big everywhere?

i wish the nelly single was only just a dream

between "best i ever had", "successful", "miss me", "find your love" & "fancy" i would have almost zero problems w/ drake as a radio presence if it wasn't for how much "over" dominated the radio, cuz that song is pretty much intolerable ("forever" also in the beginning of the year)

i haven't really listened to the radio at all since the summer because we don't have a rap station up here so don't take my post as an argument against the omnipresence of those songs

Voted for Black and Yellow, even though I am kind of jealous it is about the Steelers and not a team I like more. (The Baltimore hip-hop station pretty much took it out of rotation last week, which I did not care for, so they wouldn't seem anti-Ravens.) I actually really like Airplanes, though, because I am a sucker for inspirational rap and Paramore, I guess. Hard in the Paint and Lose My Mind and Power and Right Above It are all pretty great also.

i gave in and checked out the Waka album and like it a lot but i still just don't really fuck with any of the singles. "O Let's Do It" is the closest to aight out of the 3.

This is a perfect example of how difficult it is sometimes to account for what I like and what I don't like. I agree completely with some dude's description of the song (even the wanting it to stop part), and yet I love this song. It might just be the stankin'/thankin' rhyme.

arguing its case versus some of the other big rap hits of the year rather than its own critical vacuum would have been interesting imo

"power" & "runaway" are good songs & i definitely don't skip them on the album, but they're way in the bottom tier of kanye singles

i am absolutely fine with this thread having a minimum of kanye discussion even if his songs getting a good amount of votes was an inevitability

i finally heard "black & yellow" btw - really like it, think it might be my favourite wiz khalifa track. funny that people are joking about this being his big corny pop move when his debut single sampled alice deejay!

the circular feel of "hard in the paint" is a big part of why it is great imo. it's claustrophobic in a good way.

yeah totally - waka's best songs have this terrifying, anarchic feel to them. when i listen to "luv them gun sounds" i picture waka and his boys out in the streets with like, the city on fire behind them
