Yeah, I almost bought No Mercy until I saw that two of the songs by him I actually liked this year weren't even on the basic version album.

Voted Drake here though. Eminem was only on three inescapable songs around here it seemed (his two singles and the B.o.B. remix of that song with the Paramore chick). Drake was seemingly everywhere.

as i said in whatever the other thread it was, i loved every drake solo single this year aside from "over" and a decent number of his features ("aston martin music", "fall for your type", "loving you no more") but the ubiquity of "over" and how totally irritating that song is kind of cancels out a lot of that goodwill

my vote is definitely for em -- "not afraid" & "love the way you lie" are epically annoying imo

"Aston Martin Music" was pretty much the only Drake from this year I could tolerate.

as much as I'd love to vote for Ross or B.o.B. or Chris Brown or Drake, or even register my disappointment at how far Kanye or Jay or Em have fallen off, i gotta give this to Lil Wayne. no one song made me change stations as a split-second reflex more than "I'm Single," "Right Above It" signals the sad moment where he sounds more like a Drake wannabe than vice versa, and he managed to be that annoyingly ubiquitous despite a) being in jail most of the year and b) nothing from his worst album, Rebirth, being any kind of hit.

feels like I was way more annoyed with Drake last year — yeah, he plumbed new depths this year, but at least I knew what to expect / was somewhat desensitized

not liking drake singles was pretty easy, he's just like really bad at rapping and sounds really uncool. definitely one of the last people on this list i wkiw in a billion years, & that means a lot to me

i like the beat on fancy a lot but i don't like his verses, and that ambient second half is just straight up retarded. no idea what is so hard to resist about miss me though

two things i think "miss me" has going for it are a. a pretty dope beat (drake's people ripping off tinny southern beats) b. it was one of the few songs on rap radio that was sort of just like a straight rap song. i know it has a fluttery drake hook (that i dig, but that's besides) but it was honestly kinda rare if you listened to a big block of radio ime to hear two guys just spitting for like 20 bars each or w/e they do

things have gotten pretty bad when "they actually rapped through the whole thing" is our criterion for good chart hip-hop

its actually jaymc-types who im most confused to hear defending this guy. its like halfassed the-dream songs with terrible rapping performed by an incredibly abrasive, unlikeable human being, who likes to "[conclude] his performance by kneeling down on the edge of the stage to give the various chubby 15 year old white and Indian girls in his front row shower-nozzle masturbation material by declaring that they're "so sexy" and pointing them out individually for the JumboTron to let them know that he'd "take you home tonight if I could, baby". Dude is a disgrace to the artform which gave us Poison Clan."

I don't follow his career, man, I just like a few of his songs. Good production, imo.

I try to stay away from "omnipresent" as a defining characteristic for annoying. I avoided Eminem fairly well but found his vocal style and substance annoying when I did hear him. I need to go back and listen to earlier Eminem and figure out more specifically what he was doing then versus now to understand my changed view. He seems to be stuck in a formulaic rut now.

odd how, despite pretty much despising both, they've both had some of the best remixes of the past couple of years done for them - kid cudi/crookers, drake/drew austin, drake/deadboy, drake/nicki minaj
