Chris you always suprise me with your (excellent) tastes. This song is the shit. Don't think I've heard Pombi? The Shed Sessions is a pretty decent comp. Have you heard any Thomas Mapfumo/Hallelujah Chicken Band?

Pombi is off of Friends on the Road. I got into these guys in a cool/strange way, sitting on the beach in Bermuda drinking with my friends and the bar was playing these guys.

That's Zimbabwean Thomas Mapfumo's 1st band. Good stuff.

Used to play Bhundu Boys on my university radio station.

Yeah how oould you not like them after hearing them in that situation. Thomas Mapfumo is the 1st person that springs to mind as being pretty similar, but if you like the Bhundu Boys song you'll probably like a lot of African stuff in that vein. Here's some of what my iTunes Genius results are for Foolish Harp/Waerera:
Issa Bagayogo (don't know much about him, think only have 1 song of his. "Dya")
Orchestra Baobab (awesome Afro-Cuban group, every album I've heard is great)
Rail Band ("jazzier" and funkier than Bhundu Boys, some epic 20 min+ songs)
Toumani Diabate (virtuoso kora player, which is featured on Foolish Harp)

needless to say after about 10 dark and stormys i thought i was in the Bhundu Boys.

Four Brothers are very similar IIRC (like Bhundu Boys they play Jit, which I'll be honest my ears are not seasoned enough to distinguish from other guitar driven African music).

Still fantastic in my opinion.
