still my favorite of theirs. i'll never get over, though, going to see them after this was released. they did radically different versions of the whole lp--mostly unrecognizable, willfully aggressive and impenetrable. fun to see them, but i was very disappointed. nonetheless, great lp, works best on vinyl--in 4 'suites'.

listening to this for the first time now. don't know why i didn't hear it earlier, because i loved gallowsbird bark, blueberry boat and ep. Waiting to Know You is a lovely song. "Could there one for me be?"

this is my favorite furnaces, too! great idea for a poll. voted "black-hearted boy" (love eleanor's backward vox), but could easily have gone for title track, nevers, little thatched hut, or benton harbor blues... man, I love this album.

fucking awesome record, and still only their 3rd-best
