apologies to Jadakiss, fine-ass shorty from City High and a bunch of Lupe's corny friends for getting their names cut off in the poll options

some dude, Wednesday, 15 December 2010 20:49 (fifteen years ago)

super high will prob walk with this

ill try to pretend something else is better

"I Wanna Rock (Interstate Trafficking Remix)" by Snoop Dogg featuring Rick Ross, Yo Gotti, Maino, Roscoe Dash

this is one of the worst things i've ever heard in my life

*plop*timist (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 15 December 2010 21:13 (fifteen years ago)

seriously

some dude, Wednesday, 15 December 2010 21:16 (fifteen years ago)

i like some of these

1. super high
2. pretty boy swag
3. o let's do it
4. hello good morning
5. love king (ft. ludacris)

*plop*timist (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 15 December 2010 21:17 (fifteen years ago)

it's only #3 on the 'worst' list i'm working on though xpost

some dude, Wednesday, 15 December 2010 21:17 (fifteen years ago)

actually "love king" one should be hire -- forgot how nice that is

also i love ross over the "window seat" -- i think his voice works perfectly with the radiating warmth of that beat

*plop*timist (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 15 December 2010 21:19 (fifteen years ago)

higher* durr

*plop*timist (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 15 December 2010 21:19 (fifteen years ago)

apparently there's a whole separate video for the love king remix?? i had no idea about that

*plop*timist (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 15 December 2010 21:19 (fifteen years ago)

the production values are so hilarious low -- they're using awful imovie presets

*plop*timist (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 15 December 2010 21:20 (fifteen years ago)

my list of worst would be

1. deuces (seriously this is probably the worst song of the year if you take into account all these numskulls publicly co-signing chris brown)
2. i wanna rock
3. billionaire
4. i'm beamin (fuckin idiots all of them)
5. lose my mind

*plop*timist (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 15 December 2010 21:22 (fifteen years ago)

"Pretty Boy Swag" manages somehow to be WORSE than "Pretty Girl Bag" and I didn't that was possible

"Kiss Players♥" (DJP), Wednesday, 15 December 2010 21:27 (fifteen years ago)

i've never heard "pretty girl bag" but i always assumed it's some kind of remix/response song to "pretty boy swag"? the soulja boy song was a big hit, never really liked it but imo the gucci remix justifies its existence.

some dude, Wednesday, 15 December 2010 21:53 (fifteen years ago)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2eVmsIG2ow

not so much "response song" as "wretched vanity project"

"Kiss Players♥" (DJP), Wednesday, 15 December 2010 21:58 (fifteen years ago)

definitely super high.

swvl, Thursday, 16 December 2010 00:16 (fifteen years ago)

voted pb swag. beamer benz or bentley remix would be up there if not for the-dream coming in and totally killing the momentum, i don't know what they were thinking when they gave him a verse

i'm serious as cancer, when i peruse ilx new answers (chilli), Thursday, 16 December 2010 00:44 (fifteen years ago)

btw where's "ride" remix w/ andre 3000? that was a really cool remix imo

i'm serious as cancer, when i peruse ilx new answers (chilli), Thursday, 16 December 2010 00:46 (fifteen years ago)

it's there

*plop*timist (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 16 December 2010 01:44 (fifteen years ago)

i've heard like 3 of these :/

o let's not do it and say we did (The Reverend), Thursday, 16 December 2010 05:56 (fifteen years ago)

I linked to all of them on youtube here, although i have no idea how many of the links have expired:

"Beamer, Benz or Bentley (Remix)" by Lloyd Banks featuring Jadakiss, Ludacris, Yo Gotti and The-Dream
"Hard In The Paint (Remix)" by Waka Flocka Flame featuring Gucci Mane
"Hello Good Morning (Remix)" by Diddy featuring Rick Ross and Nicki Minaj
"Lemonade (Remix)" by Gucci Mane featuring Trey Songz, Fabolous and Nicki Minaj
"My Chick Bad (Remix)" by Ludacris featuring Diamond, Eve and Trina
"Ride (Remix)" by Ciara featuring Andre 3000 and Bei Maejor

^^of those i've heard these are the contenders, and the bei maejor take on "ride" is quite far in front.

lex diamonds (lex pretend), Thursday, 16 December 2010 13:40 (fifteen years ago)

carmancia listed the "deuces" remix in his NYT list & zach baron said in one of his voice roundtable posts that it's a lock for his singles list

what is wrong w/ these people

return of the nakh (J0rdan S.), Friday, 17 December 2010 17:28 (fifteen years ago)

they hate women?

The Reverend, Friday, 17 December 2010 17:29 (fifteen years ago)

i dont get this cabal of dudes who think drake, fabolous & kanye are releasing the best rap music right now. it seriously makes no sense to me

*plop*ism rules (deej), Friday, 17 December 2010 17:33 (fifteen years ago)

aside from the whole chris brown issue, all the verses on that song are straight garbage? like i'm not sure how you could hear that and not think that it's at best maybe the 8th best "deuces" remix of the year

return of the nakh (J0rdan S.), Friday, 17 December 2010 17:34 (fifteen years ago)

return of the nakh (J0rdan S.), Friday, 17 December 2010 17:34 (fifteen years ago)

xp i haven't heard it (and don't care to) so

The Reverend, Friday, 17 December 2010 17:35 (fifteen years ago)

the thing about the "deuces" remix is that the beat is so low key that it really emphasizes how fucking bad the rapping is on that song

return of the nakh (J0rdan S.), Friday, 17 December 2010 17:37 (fifteen years ago)

does Fab really have stans like that, though? i mean i guess he does but it seems like he's so perfectly competent but nothing more than that year after year, even this year when he got into some iffy grocery bag territory, it's not really as offensive to me to say he's good as Drake or whatever.

some dude, Monday, 20 December 2010 15:55 (fifteen years ago)

there are def ny-based critics/bloggers i think that still think fab is like spitting 10/10 punchlines regularly

return of the nakh (J0rdan S.), Monday, 20 December 2010 17:58 (fifteen years ago)

yeah but they still treat him as a punchline rapper...i don't think anyone really venerates him as a serious all-around MC in the misguided way some do w/ Joe Budden or anything.

rick ross on a window seat remix is good?

zvookster, Wednesday, 22 December 2010 00:32 (fifteen years ago)

yeah he sounds awesome on the beat imo

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 December 2010 00:34 (fifteen years ago)

i don't like ross like y'all but yeah i guess he does. wish it was a separate thing tho, an intro verse to window seat is just rong somehow. the video i just watched on badu's youtube channel starts with wiz & killa kyleon - spotlight blasting on the car system while the camera shows tall dallas buildings rolling past the sky overhead.

zvookster, Wednesday, 22 December 2010 00:49 (fifteen years ago)

gah i was sure i'd voted, but must not have b/c there the bei maejor "ride" is with 0

rick ross on a window seat remix is good?

just the idea of this is #icanteven for me

lex diamonds (lex pretend), Wednesday, 22 December 2010 08:03 (fifteen years ago)

fat-ass rick ross puffing asthmatically over "window seat"...do not want

this year's rick ross love is as smh as the drake/kanye shit, tbh

lex diamonds (lex pretend), Wednesday, 22 December 2010 08:04 (fifteen years ago)

Haha lex you sound exactly like simon reynolds talking about biggie.

Tim F, Wednesday, 22 December 2010 10:03 (fifteen years ago)

i for one do not believe that s.reynolds has ever typed #icanteven

lex diamonds (lex pretend), Wednesday, 22 December 2010 10:37 (fifteen years ago)

true.

Tim F, Wednesday, 22 December 2010 10:48 (fifteen years ago)

The Notorious B.I.G.
The odd nifty catchphrase and deft rhyme, but c'mon, this man was a pig---Notorious P.I.G. more like; Piggy Smalls, heheheheh-and with a little help from his buddy Sean he almost singlehandedly set rap down its current path of spiritual bankruptcy. And he had the most unappetising vocal timbre in all of rap- asthmatic and adenoidal and mucus-bunged-up and fat-fuck wheezy all at once.

Tim F, Wednesday, 22 December 2010 10:49 (fifteen years ago)

jesus christ almighty

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 December 2010 10:59 (fifteen years ago)

i don't love rick ross but come on B.M.F is an anthem

rendered completely redundant by first "hard in da paint" and then lyrikkal - basically why would you ever need "bmf" in your life after this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiWQS3NYelc

lex diamonds (lex pretend), Wednesday, 22 December 2010 12:45 (fifteen years ago)

yeah not one of his finer moments obv.

90% of the time i've ever seen s.reynolds quoted, it's w/this or similar caveat appended

lex diamonds (lex pretend), Wednesday, 22 December 2010 12:47 (fifteen years ago)

"B.M.F." (and by extension "Michelle Obama") has a better beat than "Hard In Da Paint". They'd be pretty equal but what pushes "B.M.F." over the edge is that half-time boom boom boom in each reiteration of the chorus, which actually sounds like Ross stomping down the mountainside to come eat you up.

Tim F, Wednesday, 22 December 2010 13:04 (fifteen years ago)

nah not at all, "hard in da paint" is so much more propulsive - there's a lot more motion in it, "bmf" plods by comparison. the "hard in da paint" key change is one of the great pop moments of 2010, a half-time boom boom has nothing on that.

lex diamonds (lex pretend), Wednesday, 22 December 2010 13:17 (fifteen years ago)

boys, boys, they're both boring unremarkable beats.

some dude, Wednesday, 22 December 2010 13:36 (fifteen years ago)

one month passes...

is it just me or is it really kinda weird that "b.m.f.", arguably the biggest song of the summer, never got an official remix?

i've been meaning to write a thing about huge rap songs begging for a remix that for some strange reason never got one -- "BMF" definitely one of the most glaring. ideally Ross would've reached out to Jeezy to do a remix instead of Jeezy getting all weirded out about a song named after his crew and did the kinda diss track freestyle.

some dude, Tuesday, 22 February 2011 01:07 (fifteen years ago)
