I propose a change where the server code appends ": When Did You Get Off The Bus?" to every thread title

Tina Tina Cheneuse (DJP), Thursday, 16 December 2010 15:00 (fifteen years ago)

You wait for a bus, then three come at once!

Matt DC, Thursday, 16 December 2010 15:06 (fifteen years ago)

Get Off The Bus threads were pretty cool, but I think I'm starting to go off them now.

cozes kiptanui (cozen), Thursday, 16 December 2010 15:12 (fifteen years ago)

Rupert Pupkin: "I can't believe this...I gotta go--I gotta catch a bus." Rupert Pupkin never got off the bus for anybody! (Ditto Kris Kross, who just missed theirs altogether.)

More srs...

There's only a select few that you could qualify for this kinda thread.

The Beatles : people stayed on for the duration, or were never on it.

The Stones: Wayyyy too long a career.

The majority: Sold a few of the debut, more of the third, then the next sold bigtime, then the next about half, then they disappeared, saleswise.

You could do Eminem, I suppose...

When did people start talking about getting 'thrown under the bus'? There's been a disturbing increase in the use of this phrase over the past 5 years.

no

Insane Clown 2 Electric Juggalo (onimo), Thursday, 16 December 2010 15:34 (fifteen years ago)

I guess this is an American thing. I'm so fucking tired of hearing people use this phrase. And it's almost always stated by attention-seeking lowlifes.

Lazarus Niles-Burnham (res), Thursday, 16 December 2010 15:45 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, over here it's more about having back-up for your job role "what if you fell under a bus, where would we be then, ay?"

I noticed this too! I heard it first on Rock Of Love. I think reality tv contestants have been perpetuating this one
