Glad it wasn't just me.

Don't really know what to make of this or how to relate it to the rest of their oeuvre. (haven't listened to it that much tbh). Some of the second half sounds similar to Oversteps, the rest not.

It's pretty much Oversteps Versions. I Think I like it about as much as Oversteps TBH. One track has a very cool panpipe style melody on it. I don't know which one that is though.

'sdf 4jhr5im,g 45r'

I mean 'nth Dafuseder.b'. Sounds a bit BoC.

e.g. delete via naivete (ledge), Wednesday, 22 December 2010 15:26 (fifteen years ago)

this is their most techno record, i love it.

sisilafami, Wednesday, 22 December 2010 16:10 (fifteen years ago)

'm62' was very surprising to me.

j., Wednesday, 22 December 2010 20:55 (fifteen years ago)

yeah, I really like oversteps but I give the edge to this one for "most techno" reasons.

"rew" is just a killer heavy groove. slaps hard and the track just sounds nice and full. and the steady 4/4 pulse on "m62" is, yeah, surprising. dig the woozy feel to it too.

but "ylm0" was the real surprise for me. like ae gone in a silent way; a couple slightly manipulated fender rhodes pianos dueling it out while some spacey synths wooze around in the back. love it! (and voting for it)

original bgm, Wednesday, 22 December 2010 21:24 (fifteen years ago)

finally listening to this again

nth Dafuseder.b

is nice

m62

=(^ • ‿‿ • ^)= (corey), Monday, 27 December 2010 00:15 (fifteen years ago)

does more techno mean - well less emotional would be unfair. less contemplative? voting for iris 'cause that's the only one that really absorbs me, not that the others are uninteresting. pce freeze 2.8i sounds like hard, manual labour, like effort. interesting, but not hugely fun.

e.g. delay koala, ok ya! (ledge), Monday, 27 December 2010 19:04 (fifteen years ago)

more techno to me = detroit classicism, regular beats, nods to acid composition techniques — the piece is the process and vice versa

=(^ • ‿‿ • ^)= (corey), Monday, 27 December 2010 19:18 (fifteen years ago)

also, more techno = faster

j., Monday, 27 December 2010 20:03 (fifteen years ago)

Does make it sound like you're more likely to be sitting listening to it stroking yr beard, rather than with tears pouring down yr face. (Not a bad thing of course, just different.)

e.g. delay koala, ok ya! (ledge), Monday, 27 December 2010 20:29 (fifteen years ago)

yeah more techno = regular beats

sisilafami, Monday, 27 December 2010 22:19 (fifteen years ago)

Also lot more echo on those bass kicks, yum.

one year passes...

I have an IDM station on my Pandora and "pce freeze 2.8i" came on and, despite probably having listened to Move of Ten three whole times ever, I could tell immediately that this was Autechre.

Going back to this one. There's not a whole lot I remember about it.

nth Dafuseder.b has to be one of the strangest things they've done. Beat repurposed from d sho qub from Oversteps but with this "haunted, windswept Balearic island" vibe. Pan pipes, windy ghosts. So good

Huh. Apparently I mention panpipes upthread but I don't remember this track at all

one year passes...

Just listening to pce freeze 2.8i and got this mad little idea for a music video thats all just close ups of bread being made. Dough being slammed down on a table, pounded-out by hands and rollers. Fermentation bubbles busting through yeast. Loaves rising in fast motion. Flour exploding into the air etc
