Ludo's terrific, yes (a friend had the first verse of "Good Morning, How Are You, Shut Up" as her answering machine message for a while). But if I had to OPO... maybe "Go and Sit Upon the Grass," the best song ever written about ideology and how it's communicated...

We got away with playing that in a club over the weekend. Needless to say it didn't exactly fill the dancefloor.

my own favourite has to be "jammy smears" mainly for the song "a wooden tree". you can get some mp3's of live performances (about two cd's worth) from http://www.ivorcutler.org/sessions.html - for song based ones here go for "women of the world" and the godlike "good morning how are you shut up"

On April 19th 2005, we'll be celebrating our 20th anniversary by seeing Bebo & Cigala at the Festival Hall.
I might therefore be the only person on the planet who gets soppy and sentimental over Ivor Cutler records.

seen this in stores, a compilation of his earliest releases from the early 60's. song titles look great: 'gravity begins at home', 'a cowpuncher and a bird', 'get away from the wall'... anyone heard it?
Velvet Donkey is the one with "Grass" and Frith helping out with the music

"Get Away from the Wall" is a wonderful little song, though.

Does anyone know the state of Ivor's health, I heard a rumour that he's no longer living in his flat but lives in an old folk's home, can anyone confirm this?

Mentioned upthread but worth repeating - It's a faff but if you can be bothered to join up, this...

Is a good group with lots of music on it. If Ambrose is still keeping tabs on this thread I'm pretty sure they've got the Prince Ivor "opera" on there.

want to play Ivor Cutler's harmonium?Crow Hill currently have a free harmonium VST for download, it's pretty good!https://thecrowhillcompany.com/harmonium/
they say that they can't reveal who's harmonium they sampled from, but comparing the scratch marks & sticker on the back of Ivor's they are identical.https://images2.imgbox.com/e9/10/UtQMe4Tk_o.png

I wonder if the two great harmonium players of the 1970s - Ivor Cutler and Nico - ever met. Maybe on a Saturday afternoon at Robert Wyatt's place: Ivor's cycled over for a cup of tea, then when the pubs shut Kevin Ayers shows up with Nico in tow.

God, I miss Ivor Cutler, miss seeing him out on his bike in North London.
My friend approached him once, he was browsing at the Books Etc in the Royal Festival Hall, fortunately, she had one of his poetry books in her bag, she did the 'Mr Cutler' thing. He was delighted to sign it, then he produced a little roll of stickers, that had phrases written in French. He tore off a few and said, 'I like your teeth...' (she does have a big smile)
