bendy, Thursday, 6 January 2011 03:23 (fourteen years ago)

i don't think i've heard a single one of these u_u

train doesn't qualify?

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Thursday, 6 January 2011 03:24 (fourteen years ago)

afaik the only ones i've heard are mumford & sons, neon trees & of course against me

most of the rock i heard on the radio this year was of the softer/AC bent

of these i'm gonna vote for neon trees, even tho against me! is the best it doesn't really seem to be of the same ilk as these joints

J0rdan S., Thursday, 6 January 2011 03:26 (fourteen years ago)

Train crossed over to adult contempo-land years ago and haven't had a new song on rock radio in a long time, especially not "Hey, Soul Sister"

other ones i like that were too recent or not big enough to get on the Billboard lists:

Linkin Park - “Waiting For The End”
Cavo - “Crash”
Nickelback - “This Afternoon”

washa flocka brain (some dude), Thursday, 6 January 2011 03:43 (fourteen years ago)

I'd rank the Godsmack songs but there's a better chance of my dick turning into a cheeseburger than me ever listening to their shit again

those balls look like a butt (San Te), Thursday, 6 January 2011 03:46 (fourteen years ago)

well get on it dickburger

washa flocka brain (some dude), Thursday, 6 January 2011 03:52 (fourteen years ago)

I actually dig Silversun Pickups on an instant-leave-me-alone-gratification level.

heh (kelpolaris), Thursday, 6 January 2011 03:57 (fourteen years ago)

Ozzy is so beyond caricature at this point that he's almost looped back around to being enjoyable again, but, no, not quite

those balls look like a butt (San Te), Thursday, 6 January 2011 03:58 (fourteen years ago)

stone temple pilots tho, always reliable

those balls look like a butt (San Te), Thursday, 6 January 2011 03:58 (fourteen years ago)

Silversun Pickups - "The Royal We"

One good song... this is not a difficult vote.

billstevejim, Thursday, 6 January 2011 04:03 (fourteen years ago)

gotta say that i'm surprised that mumford & sons escaped al's bottom 10

J0rdan S., Thursday, 6 January 2011 04:04 (fourteen years ago)

it was close, i had a pretty extreme negative reaction to it initially but i've kinda left it on once or twice now and ended up if not enjoying it then at least more neutral toward it

washa flocka brain (some dude), Thursday, 6 January 2011 04:07 (fourteen years ago)

Neon Animals FTW.

Tim F, Thursday, 6 January 2011 04:23 (fourteen years ago)

Ugh. Neon Trees - Animal.

All names seem interchangeable these days.

Tim F, Thursday, 6 January 2011 04:23 (fourteen years ago)

"lay me down" is so fucking bad, i am appalled that it was #1 on that chart for so long. and tbh i think "animal" is pretty shitty too, not quite sure what everyone seems to like about it.

i voted for "tighten up" -- don't like the album that much but it's among my fav tracks this year. i like the production.

teledyldonix, Thursday, 6 January 2011 05:07 (fourteen years ago)

i don't think i've heard a single one of these u_u

tears of a self-clowning oven (The Reverend), Thursday, 6 January 2011 05:07 (fourteen years ago)

omg and that jack johnson track, i had forgotten about that -________-

teledyldonix, Thursday, 6 January 2011 05:09 (fourteen years ago)

Linkin Park - "The Catalyst"
Metric - "Gold Guns Girls"
Deftones - "Diamond Eyes"

^^^one of these 3

http://i26.tinypic.com/2ajucf4.jpg (acoleuthic), Thursday, 6 January 2011 05:10 (fourteen years ago)

probably gonna vote linkin park because the other two can do so much better

http://i26.tinypic.com/2ajucf4.jpg (acoleuthic), Thursday, 6 January 2011 05:13 (fourteen years ago)

Deftones song is on my Pazz and Jop ballot. Totally amazing Angel Dust-era Faith No More rip. I love it.

endlamoosing (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 6 January 2011 05:25 (fourteen years ago)

shipley what weird herb planet do you live on where you're like the biggest sonic youth fan I've ever met but would rather fuck with Papa Roach's cornball 7 Fast 7 Furious date-rape music than the rad 120 Minutes throwbacks that Linkin Park (faux-NIN) and Deftones (faux-FNM) were cookin up in 2010

endlamoosing (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 6 January 2011 05:29 (fourteen years ago)

like the deftones album but i thought the title-track was one of the weaker numbers! your last post is otm tho

http://i26.tinypic.com/2ajucf4.jpg (acoleuthic), Thursday, 6 January 2011 05:38 (fourteen years ago)

i wait, i thought i was voting on "Rocket Skates"

"Rocket Skates" is the good Deftones song off that album :/

Whiney G. Weingarten, Thursday, 6 January 2011 05:39 (fourteen years ago)

haaaaaaa

haven't heard any recent Deftones, was never really big into them. comparing "The Catalyst" to Nine Inch Nails is generous imo and "Waiting For The End" and some other cuts on the album are just so so so much better. anyway what do Faith No More and NIN really have to do with Sonic Youth? if anything the most SY-ish band on this list is Silversun Pickups and I could give a fuck about them. and I've written in the past about how Papa Roach kind of have secretly become a dope singles band that don't sound that much like "Last Resort."

Johnny Cheever (some dude), Thursday, 6 January 2011 17:14 (fourteen years ago)

lol, neither of the Muse songs on here is the one that always makes me think I like Muse more than I actually do ("Uprising") (no I do not want to watch "Twilight", thank you)

I think I'm voting Neon Trees...?

Indolence Mission (DJP), Thursday, 6 January 2011 17:25 (fourteen years ago)

fwiw "Uprising" was #1 on the Billboard Alternative list but it was out in '09 so i nixed it from the poll options. i really hate that and "Resistance" but the synthy newer one and a couple singles from the previous album are cool with me.

Johnny Cheever (some dude), Thursday, 6 January 2011 17:28 (fourteen years ago)

Whenever I listen to recent Muse songs, I enjoy them while I am hearing them, but aside from "Uprising" as the song goes on the desire to turn it off just builds as the song goes on. It's a weird attract/repel reaction and I find it kind of impressive because I can't really think of another band that does that to me.

Indolence Mission (DJP), Thursday, 6 January 2011 17:31 (fourteen years ago)

Black Holes & Revelations is awesome album, fuiud

tears of a self-clowning oven (The Reverend), Thursday, 6 January 2011 17:31 (fourteen years ago)

(It's also, coincidentally, exactly all the Muse I need in my life.)

tears of a self-clowning oven (The Reverend), Thursday, 6 January 2011 17:32 (fourteen years ago)

h8d "animal" as a youtube, fell in <3 w it on the radio

flopson, Thursday, 6 January 2011 17:37 (fourteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Thursday, 13 January 2011 00:01 (fourteen years ago)

lol apologies to switchfoot for calling them "switchfood"

men are from mars, bruno has no penis (some dude), Thursday, 13 January 2011 00:35 (fourteen years ago)

Against Me, although there are far better songs on that record. I still don't understand why they never caught on.

kornrulez6969, Thursday, 13 January 2011 00:39 (fourteen years ago)

amazing how much 90s holdover garbage is on here

assorted curses (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 13 January 2011 00:40 (fourteen years ago)

they've had multiple radio hits and have gotten mad year-end critics' list love, to what extent have they not 'caught on'? (xpost)

men are from mars, bruno has no penis (some dude), Thursday, 13 January 2011 00:42 (fourteen years ago)

only bands here i'd really consider '90s bands are AIC, STP and Godsmack. unless you mean younger bands doing '90s-style rock.

men are from mars, bruno has no penis (some dude), Thursday, 13 January 2011 00:48 (fourteen years ago)

Linkin Park, Deftones are from the 90s - was gonna add Papa Roach but I forgot they debuted in 2000

assorted curses (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 13 January 2011 00:49 (fourteen years ago)

oh and Jimmy Eat World. I'll give Avenged Sevenfold a pass.

assorted curses (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 13 January 2011 00:50 (fourteen years ago)

and then of course good ol Gavin Rossdale

assorted curses (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 13 January 2011 00:51 (fourteen years ago)

i think the only one of these i know is mumford; that is the worst fuckin song

call all destroyer, Thursday, 13 January 2011 00:56 (fourteen years ago)

Linkin Park debuted in 2000 and Deftones/JEW didn't really get played on the radio til 2000 or later

men are from mars, bruno has no penis (some dude), Thursday, 13 January 2011 01:13 (fourteen years ago)

Apocalyptica featuring Gavin Rossdale - "End of Me"

wtf

aren't Apocalyptica the dudes that play Metallica jams on cellos?

big ed girlie (Pillbox), Thursday, 13 January 2011 01:15 (fourteen years ago)

yes...they started doing albums w/ original material with guest singers and having radio hits a few years back.

men are from mars, bruno has no penis (some dude), Thursday, 13 January 2011 01:18 (fourteen years ago)

for me this is coming down to "Undisclosed Desires" or the very additive "Animal." though KROQ seems to play "Crossfire" an awful lot and is now stuck in my head. where Brandon voice goes all bubbly in the song and sounds like he is on drugs is pretty cool.

Animal

World Series champion San Francisco Giants (Bee OK), Thursday, 13 January 2011 04:47 (fourteen years ago)

heard neon trees for the first time on the radio today, wasn't "animal" but "1983". dig their sound so i'll vote "animal"

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Thursday, 13 January 2011 05:01 (fourteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

System, Friday, 14 January 2011 00:01 (fourteen years ago)

some dude, Friday, 14 January 2011 03:53 (fourteen years ago)
