Mötorhead vs. Thin Lizzy

I've been trying to sort this one in my head for a couple of days. I quit.

impossible. they serve different needs, but i'd be incomplete without either. voted thin lizzy, though i've spent more of my life listening to motorhead. not sure why (either part of that sentence, really).

Motörhead, obviously. Thin Lizzy had a few moments of glory, but Motörhead have never flagged (not even when they had an ex-TL'er in the band, ha ha) and are better now than they've ever been.

me too! voted for TL in part because i thought they might not get enough respect (in retrospect: duh).

I love Motorhead but love, love, love Thin Lizzy. I'd be slightly surprised to find that anyone likes one of these bands but dislikes the other.

I guess that'd be me, although I don't exactly dislike Thin Lizzy I'm not crazy about them either.

Funny thing is even still for as much great music both bands made, they are both still really under-rated in the whole scheme of things.

like thin lizzy can remind me of iron maiden sometimes and bruce springsteen at times, that's crazy

it is kind of a weird compare

two "metal" bands with great crossover appeal maybe? Blue Oyster Cult also come to mind. as do Aerosmith, Van Halen and Led Zeppelin of course.

yeah, we talked about the effect of transitional robbo elements on motorheadlike lizzy and/or lizzyesque motorhead upthread. secret heresy: another perfect day might be my favorite motorhead album (of the classic stuff i know well, anyway). but it's not like they've got a bunch of other curves in their catalog.

Saw Lizzy on Sat night. Really, and surprisingly, good. Great songs treated with enough respect. Gorham's an old man now but looks like he's having the time of his life. And the fella from The Almighty who does the singing has just the right voice ... Thoroughly enjoyable show.

Lynnot's delivery also has some of that cool easiness that Hendrix had.
