defend the indefensible (?) - art garfunkel solo

something so ineffectual, almost pitiful, about his interpretive abilities. that said, there's something strangely hypnotizing about his voice itself, which combined with decent songs (e.g. on 'watermark') can be oddly compelling. most of his catalogue looks like total dreck though.

this isn't a good or bad thing, necessarily, but he looks like a dentist.

"Since the 1960's, Art Garfunkel has been a voracious reader. We are pleased to present a listing of every book Art has read over the last 40 years. This book list has been divided into several pages to allow easy downloading."

His cover of "I Only Have Eyes for You" is a nice piece of white boy quiet storm.

i came here to post the dying bunniehz video but i guess it was so clearly his standout moment it only took 3 minutes to get linked up!

you kinda gotta feel bad for an artist who's totally awesome superpower is doing unique and beautiful harmonizing with someone who, inevitably, was just gonna have to split with him. so why didn't someone else snap him up as their sidekick? there must be some singer-songwriter-who-is-great-but-could-be-even-greater-if-art-garfunkel-was-their-backup-singer, lookin to spice up their next album. but who?

the Dan should have got him in.

Lisa sits in her room and contemplates the trophies on her bookshelf.

Lisa: Hey, I _am_ above average! So what if Alison's ahead of me?
There's no shame in being second.
9 imagines)
Announcer: And now, Avis Rent-A-Car is proud to present the second best
band in America. Will you welcome Garfunkel, Messina, Oates,
and Lisa singing their number two hit, "Born to Runner-up".
(Audience boos)
Lisa: Why would they come to our concert just to boo us?

lol @ the idea of the staring contest between Art and Leonard Cohen via album sleeves.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 9 October 2014 20:19 (ten years ago)

yeah that is classic. i kind of regret starting this thread. artie is quite defensible. although i did put the question mark in there.

I dunno. (amateurist), Thursday, 9 October 2014 23:34 (ten years ago)
