i lent it to them. her. this girl named kara.
she was a really terrible person. she was
like a fat eight year old. with a bowl cut
thing. i lent it to her and i totally knew
she wasn't going to give it back.

i had a tape of it and i listened to it in
my car. a few weeks ago. it was a tape with
siamese dream on one side and nevermind on
the other. i forget what i thought of it.

i like that everlong song, though. and the
very first single. the video had a chess
board.

The Foo Fighters are a decent singles band. Nirvana are overrated, but Kurt was a talented songsmith, and they have two excellent albums. Nirvana win, but they are an excellent punk-pop band, and no more.

The question per John Berryman is "whether wickedness/were soluble in art" (subjunctive possibly misremembered), but sc. wickedness=grief in this case. Cobain's grief is dressed up in a younger man's clothes because that's the look he favored, but Grohl's grief knows & shows its age: wears it well: thinks pop songs are the keys to the kingdom, and knows that pop does not = gutless. Foo FITErs win this one; Pyrrhic victory, tho.

Nirvana, absolutely. Foo Fighters albums put me to sleep; There's nothing going on in their songs that really interests me any more than other corporate mush radio rock.

i haven't heard sweet 75 and i live here. are/were they any good? i only ever saw noveselic post-nirvana on the tv getting stalked by richard lee, the psycho "journalist" on our public access station. i would not be surprised to see him run for city council or something. k.n. that is...

foo fighters have some good songs, although i wouldn't count 'everlong' as a favorite. i like "my poor brain" but i suspect you're all bored with quiet/loud songs. i think grohl's strength is in the prettiness - see: melodies of "i'll stick around" "good greif" and esp. "x-static". i like most of that first album, actually.

I would pick Nirvana overall. more powerful or something, i don't know.
