never heard a lot of Destruction. Kreator were great, especially in the Extreme Aggression/Coma of Souls eras, but I have to go with Sodom. not technical, just simple fun all-out thrash. the strength of Persecution Mania, Agent Orange, and Code Red are enough to give them the slight nod.

Never been a big Sodom fan. Comes down to Destruction vs. Kreator for me, and I'll probably wind up going for Destruction.

that's not funny. (unperson), Saturday, 22 January 2011 01:43 (fourteen years ago)

I'm going with Kreator

Never heard Destruction but Kreator > Sodom

a fucking stove just fell on my foot. (Colonel Poo), Saturday, 22 January 2011 15:12 (fourteen years ago)

Kreator have been really good the last few years - their most recent disc in particular is terrific.

that's not funny. (unperson), Saturday, 22 January 2011 16:10 (fourteen years ago)

really surprised at what a successful revival thrash has undergone in the last decade or so. it's not even just 'reunion' or 'nostalgia' acts, ie Warbeast and Warbringer.

i love tampon spaceship (San Te), Saturday, 22 January 2011 16:50 (fourteen years ago)

that ie was actually meant to say those weren't nostalgia acts, god I should proofread what I write before it hit Submit

They have, and it is, but Destruction is actually the better live act nowadays. I saw Kreator twice recently, and on both occasions they were kind of phoning it in.

five years pass...

have changed my mind a bit. Sodom were great at what they did and I love the first four releases, Code Red, and M-16, but Kreator I think had a lot more variety in their songwriting and quality control.

listening to Violent REvolution for the first time (I ignored it as I was ignoring 'return to roots' thrash albums in 01) and it's so damn good.

Neanderthal, Wednesday, 16 March 2016 23:57 (nine years ago)

for Sodom though, I"ll say M-16 was kinda like if Slayer had made Diabolus in Musica and threw all the godawful, pandery post-trash shit out the window and stuck to things like Bitter Peace and Point, the good half.

Sodom is so good guys. how can u not love Agent Orange or Persecution Mania, or the old stuff with the bad drums, or some of the newer stuff that isn't hot dookie.

I love that their guitars on AGent Orange had that chunk that I like in thrash.

also I liked that it was fast as fucking hell.

also I liked that YELLING HAPPENED

Enjoy sweetest lust and I am feeling well, moral dilemma without wrath
Crave for you in ecstasy of my mind, love you to the quick
Don't know what has happened to me, the condition of a bitch

ok "Incest"'s lyrical creepiness nonwithstanding

the first two destruction albums have so much fucking swagger and just completely rule.. haven’t heard anything else but those first two album, holy shit, they’re like running from motorcycles through the streets of a bombed out city

idk sodom yet

brimstead, Tuesday, 23 March 2021 17:26 (four years ago)

Destruction are a quartet now, and I'm not sure it fully works for them. Their last album was just OK. Kreator are still strong as hell, though. Really want to see them live one of these days.

but also fuck you (unperson), Tuesday, 23 March 2021 17:43 (four years ago)

one year passes...

still voting Sodom.

mostly cos damn, the title track to "Agent Orange".

i like the older stuff too where the drummer couldn't keep a beat to save his life.

their last few albums pretty great too.
